30 Recommended Brands To Add To Your Home Bar In July 2021

Summer 2021 is now upon us. No matter whether you are still quarantining or regularly socializing in small groups, there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy your home bar and imbibe. As someone regularly following trends within the food and beverage worlds, I can tell you that there is no shortage of interesting new offerings from top producers of wine, spirits and even non-alcoholic beverages.

In turn, below are 30 recommendations for readers of The Hype Magazine seeking some possible, quality-oriented — yet most of which cost-effective and value-oriented, in spite of that high level of quality — additions to their home bar, recipes and non-alcoholic options included, of course.

Talisker Single Malt Scotch Whisky x Real Oyster Cult

The partnership between Real Oyster Cult and Talisker Single Malt Scotch Whisky is billed as a “match made on the Isle of Skye in Scotland,” where the Talisker distillery sits on the rugged coast alongside an oyster farm. Its nearby waters offer the signature maritime and briny notes of Talisker, making it an ideal Scotch to pair with oysters. As an homage to its deep-rooted love of bivalves, Talisker has brought this signature pairing to people across the U.S. via a limited-edition kit available for purchase via Real Oyster Cult.

Each kit delivers a selection of farm-fresh, sustainable Atlantic Oysters carefully curated to complement the tasting notes of Talisker: the whisky’s iconic smokiness, pepper, and dried fruit flavors seduce the salt and sweet of the 3 bivalve varieties featured. The kits also contain all the accessories needed to shuck, slurp and sip through summer, including:

– 30 or 60 oysters (from East Beach Blonde of Ninigret Pond, RI, ROC Reserve in Duxbury, MA) and/or Real Oyster Cult’s very own farm La St. Simon in New Brunswick, Canada)
– Talisker Shucking Gloves
– 2 Whisky Droppers (for garnishing bivalves with a touch of Talisker)
– Oyster Pairings Guide
– 10 percent off code to purchase any Talisker bottle on Reserve Bar

Beyond pairing in flavor, Talisker and Real Oyster Cult share a deep respect for the sea and have individually committed to its preservation. Learn more about how Real Oyster Cult oysters help our oceans, and how Talisker is teaming up with Parley For The Oceans to preserve and protect 100 million square meters of marine ecosystems around the world by 2023.

Talisker is also notably part of the “Scottish Whisky Expedition: Single Malt Tasting Experience,” as sold by ReserveBar for $74.99. This “experience” aims to offer your guests the chance to embark on a journey through Scotland via flavor with The Single Malts Tasting Experience. The pack also comes complete with 2 tasting glasses and is available nationwide wherever fine spirits are sold.

The growth of Sandeman Port and Sherries over two centuries has been based on a balance of tradition and innovation, respecting heritage but always seeking improvement. In 1980, Sandeman became part of Seagram. Canción Tequila

Created by Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, Canción Tequila is made with 100 percent Blue Agave from private farms in the valleys of Jalisco, Mexico. It is distilled twice and then filtered 3 times to clean out the fusil oils, aldehydes and ketones natural in the distillation process, but guilty of contributing to that nasty headache procured the next day from cheap, less filtered tequilas. The filtration is just enough to keep the American White Oak charred bourbon barrel aging notes in the personality of their Reposado, Añejo and Extra Añejo offerings for tequila lovers to sip, savor and smile by enjoying neat, on the rocks or in a favorite cocktail. Now sold in over 10 states, more on Canción Tequila can be found here.

Paddy’s Old Irish Whiskey

Paddy’s Irish Whiskey traces its roots back to 1779, but its true name did not come until much later when a salesman by the name of Paddy Flaherty roamed pub to pub with a sales pitch of equal parts smooth triple-distilled whiskey, good humor and revelry. Paddy was reportedly as beloved as the whiskey he sold, in no small part because of the free rounds he wouldd give at every stop. It was only fitting that this fine whiskey became known as Paddy’s.

An approachable Irish whiskey comprised of a triple-distilled blend of grain, malt and pot-still, Paddy’s is mild and yet crisp, with a hint of honey. Paddy’s matures for years in 3 types of oaken casks, acquiring its distinctively rich and golden color in dark, aromatic warehouses before being shipped directly from Ireland. Recently, the Paddy’s had people talking about its Father’s Day 2021 promotion, in which it gave customers $5.00 via Venmo for calling their dad (or self-identified father / parental figure) on Father’s Day. A great promotion from a great brand.

Disaronno Velvet

Disaronno Velvet, with its refreshingly smooth texture, distinctive imprinting of Disaronno Originale’s almond flavor and nuances of chocolate and vanilla, can be the perfect base for a boozy ice cream libation. The silky base allows for a unique tasting experience, especially when mixed with the sweetness found in ice cream. Adding Tia Maria Cold Brew further enhances the delight by adding a kick of coffee to the mix. Below are 2 cocktail recipes incorporating both of these excellent spirits.

Coen Classic

The Coen Classic — suggested retail price of $24.99 — is a chillable red wine that can pair well with an array of different outdoor dish fare. While malbec may not be the first variety that comes to mind for a chillable red wine, as the Coen Classic is unoaked with ripe mixed red berries, it is an ideal red for chilling this summer. Made with 100 percent Malbec grapes the Coen Classic is an elegant medium-bodied dry red wine with a young, joyful quality. On the palate, it shows an aroma of fresh, ripe mixed red and blackberries with balsamic notes, fresh mint, and a nice long velvety, round finish. The medium ruby colored wine pairs well with classic tomato dishes, salads, cheeses and pastas alike.

Acrobat Pinor Noir

Last but definitely not least… This 2018 vintage from Acrobat is a brilliant example of Pinot Noir from a consistent and warmer than average Western Oregon growing season. In the glass, there is a garnet-colored center with bright ruby edges. The nose has rich, fruit-forward aromas of bright Bing cherry and raspberries, with hints of cinnamon and baking spices. Carrying an ABV of 12.5 percent, it has a suggested retail price of $19.99, hence why Wine Spectator has billed it a “Smart Buy.”
