Hype: Where are you from and when did you first fall in love with hip-hop?

DBB: I’m from Knoxville,TN and I fell in love with hip hop as a kid. Music was always a way I saw to express myself.

Hype: Who are your musical influences?

DBB: In large part my influence was Snoop Dogg more specifically his Doggystyle album. But other artist I was influenced by include Lil Wayne, Migos, Drake, Gucci Mane, Jeezy, and Money Man.

Hype:  How did you get your name in music?

DBB: I originally gave myself the name the Bandit. Then eventually I added the Dope Boy part using a play on words. Life is like “dope,” you can flip it to make it anything you want so therefore life is “dope.” And I felt like that was something anybody that would listen to my music would be able to relate to.

Hype: You did your latest single song called “Saucy” Hosted by. Sauce Walka, how did you get the opportunity?

DBB: It was fairly simple to be real. I sent him a dm about a post I saw on his page, and he dmed me back and chopped it up a little bit and it went from there.

Hype: Do you see yourself on a higher scale with your music?

DBB: I definitely do, I believe I have the music as well as the personality and presentation of personality to make it in the entertainment business. But even more than the music I see myself on a higher scale with business.

Hype: You just released your latest single “Star” ft. ChazMontana?

DBB: Yes, “Stars” is my latest release on all platforms and the official video is out on YouTube. It’s one of the most relatable songs to someone who wants to be more than they are that I’ve written in my career.

Hype: What does success mean to you?

DBB: Success means coming to a point where you’re comfortable with yourself. When you can look in the mirror and say by my own standards, I’m happy with who I am and where I’m at in life.

Hype: What separates you from your peers in the game right now?

DBB: My work ethic and my understanding of what goes into music outside of music. I understand the business element of music, which when it comes down to it is more important than the music itself.

Hype: Which producer/artist would you like to work with in 2021?

DBB: I don’t have anybody in particular but any artist and producers that are hungry and serious about their craft, I want to work with.

Hype: What’s next for you?

DBB: I have a couple videos in the vault that I’m waiting for the right time to drop, but right now the main goal is, make sure I stay in the public’s face. I want the public to get use to seeing me, and get to know who I am. Other than that I’m going to take everything step by step and enjoy the process.
