William Katt On His New Film “Overrun,” Music, Future Plans & If He Ever Met Katt Williams

In the new film Overrun — due out on Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital and On-Demand outlets on August 17, 2021 via Strike Back Studios — former extraction specialist Marcus Lombardi jumps into a life of crime when his sister is revealed as an informant on underworld kingpin Ray Barren. Lombardi agrees to do an impossible job for Ray to clear his and his sister’s name. He is ultimately put on a collision course with mobsters, dirty cops and plenty of assassins who make things even harder for him.

Overrun stars Omid Zader (3 Days to Kill, Vice> Star Trek: Into Darkness, Johnny Messner (Tears Of The Sun, Believers, The Whole Ten Yards), Bruce Dern (The Hateful Eight, Nebraska, The Peanut Butter Falcon), William Katt (The Greatest American Hero, Carrie The Other Side Of The Wind), Nicholas Turturro (The Longest Yard, NYPD Blue, BlacKkKlansman), Jack Griffo (Seal Team, The Thundermans, Alexa & Katie), Christopher Troy (SWAT), Haley Strode (Gangster Squad) and Chelsey Goldsmith. It marks the feature film directorial debut from filmmaker Josh Tessier (The Mandalorian, The Walking Dead: Red Machete).

The aforementioned William Katt turned heads as one of the leads in the film Carrie. A few years later, Katt would potray Ralph Hinkley, the lead character in The Greatest American Hero, which was further immortalized via Seinfeld in the 1990s. Katt has worked steadily within both the television and film worlds for decades, and even had a major label record deal in the 1980s with MCA Records.

On July 26, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with William Katt via Zoom. Besides Overrun and his co-stars in the film, we spoke about Katt’s foray into music, future projects and whether he has ever met the similarly-named Katt Williams. More on Katt can be found by clicking here and here.
