0Exclusive: All Elite Wrestling’s Cody Rhodes On What Is Still On His Always-Growing “To Do List”
Founded by CEO, GM and Head of Creative Tony Khan, All Elite Wrestling — or AEW, for short — is a new professional wrestling league headlined by Cody & Brandi Rhodes, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson), Chris Jericho, Sting, Hangman Page, MJF, Darby Allin, Hikaru Shida, Dr. Britt Baker and Jon Moxley. For the first time in many years, AEW is offering an alternative to mainstream wrestling, with a roster of world-class talent that is injecting new spirit, freshness and energy into the industry. The inaugural event under the AEW banner was the sold-out Double Or Nothing pay-per-view in Las Vegas in May 2019. AEW began airing its weekly show Dynamite on TNT in October 2019, since finding international success with other weekly programming on both television and digital outlets, including AEW Dark, AEW Dark Elevation, Being The Elite and AEW Unrestricted.
The aforementioned Cody Rhodes is not only a headlining talent — a former World Champion — and an EVP at All Elite Wrestling, but also a host on TBS series Go-Big Show and the star of the upcoming TNT series Rhodes To The Top. Rhodes is also a co-owner of the Nightmare Factory pro-wrestling training facility in the Atlanta area, showing his insistence on giving back to future stars of wrestling. So while Rhodes has been a star in the wrestling world for close to 15 years — with plenty of mainstream non-wrestling projects rumored at this time — his career is far from over both on and off-camera.
Back in 2018, before the launch of All Elite Wrestling, I had the pleasure of asking Cody Rhodes about his then-infamous “to do list” about his post-WWE career, as transcribed here. Today, August 3, 2021 — a little over 3 years later — I had the pleasure of asking Rhodes about that interaction from 2018 via PR executive Jim Woodcock, as also embedded below. More on Rhodes is here, here and here.
