H.E.R. Settles Copyright Lawsuit Over 2016 Song “Focus”

LAWSUIT SETTLED WITH GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING ARTIST H.E.R.

FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT FOR HER HIT SINGLE “FOCUS”

In a case that rocked industry headlines last year, the copyright infringement lawsuit against iconic artist Gabriella Wilson (H.E.R), songwriter Justin Love and DJ Camper has finally been settled.

In June 2020, Andre Sims, well known songwriter and piano maestro, filed allegations against the trio after DJ Camper publicly admitted to using Sims instrumental composition “Endless Minds” as part of the musical bed for the 2016 song recorded by H.E.R. “Focus.” Originally, Sims filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit for copyright infringement, injunctive relief, accounting of all monies made, and for the defendants to create a constructive trust to hold royalties. Although, no specific details of the settlement have been disclosed.

Sims is satisfied with the final outcome stating, “I’m happy we could reach a resolution, and would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers.” Known as a music savant and for his distinguished music career playing with artists such as Stevie Wonder and Donnie McClurkin, Sims is elated to resume teaching classes and lectures.

Sims was represented by Atlanta-based entertainment lawyer Attorneys James L. Walker, Jr. and Renorda Pryor. “At this point, we have nothing more to say then we are pleased to see the case resolved and settled. Now, all parties can move on with their lives,” said Walker. “Special thanks to all of the attorneys involved who worked tirelessly to close this matter out.”
