0Chicago Hip Hop Artist Master Yeti Captures Futurism and Authenticity Through Digital Art
Master Yeti, who grew up on Chicago’s south side, comes from a deeply musical family with roots. His ability to craft powerful melodies is a testament to his father, an esteemed pianist and the Minister of Music in Chicago, and late uncle, an acclaimed left-handed bass player, both of whom Yeti has said inspired him. Yeti’s love for music kept him out of the streets, and in 2017 he began producing music.
Master Yeti’s first single, “On My Own” was released in November 2019. In his newest single, “Heartbeat,” he spits melodic, auto-tuned game over a bass-heavy mid-tempo beat. Yeti is preparing to drop his upcoming visual”My Time,” where he builds a hybrid virtual and real life scenes to conveys the flex to the top and believing in yourself when others don’t support.
Naturally, one of Master Yeti’s influences is famously polarizing Chicago-native, Ye. Yeti is a fan of his ability to combine multiple disciplines of art into innovative concepts to promote his music. “I’m doing kind of what Kanye did. You’ve got to have your own style, make your own music and be your own producer. I look up to Kanye because he always came across as rare.”
In addition to being a music artist, Master Yeti is a digital creator excited about expanding into the Metaverse. He attended Columbia College Chicago on an art scholarship and spent his early years as a graphic and web designer. In 2015, he partnered with his brothers and launched their own clothing brand, Veyron Calanari (www.veyroncalanari.com) in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. Master Yeti’s entire independent music career is self-funded and he is showing no signs of slowing down.
