Dancer/Choreographer Aliya Janell Brinson is Evolving Unapologetically and Now She Has New Music on the Way

In a society where it is believed to be a man’s man’s world, it can feel impossible to create a large footprint, especially in entertainment. To a lot of individuals, dance is just a couple of quick steps, followed by some random number counts and a “Ziggy Ziggy” sound here and there, or so they thought. Comments that commonly become repetitive in nature are: “oh wow she’s boring” or “I’m tired of seeing her, she’s overrated, all her dance moves look the same,” so what makes Aliya Janell so special? From the perfect love story to building her own empire, Aliya is every woman’s woman.

Virtual reality has quickly endorsed over-exposed vocabulary that is often harsh and unkind, many individuals have become enthralled in the relentless expectations of social media, part of the daily chase to stardom, where it is impossible to please everyone at the same time. I’ve followed Aliya’s journey for several years now, from the ups and downs, what you get with her is consistently raw, unapologetic, evolution. She is a creative professional who has been breaking down countless barriers from the way dance is perceived socially, to using her voice and platform through creative spaces to help uplift and empower women of all ages, races, and ethnicities. From the outside looking in her moves may seem “repetitive”, but when you go buy a car do you request one with two and a half wheels instead of four because a regular four-wheel vehicle may be deemed as “repetitive” or “not as entertaining”? Dance moves have been revived all over the world from their initiation period. What makes Aliya special, is her ability to create impactful moments in every routine. Don’t believe me? Just ask the millions of viewers that keep each routine in the seven digits and climbing.

As a woman striving to pave her own path in a meaningful and memorable way, all I can do is admire Aliya’s never-ending passion, discipline, and dedication to her craft while impacting the lives of thousands in such a positive light. Having the ability to help pull someone out of a dark moment, to help them rise above their circumstances, into a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, is a gift very few possess. She has created a dance empire and now she has new music on the way! From the dance floor to the mic, loyal fans will be excited to learn that she’s been teasing these new hits for some time now! Could there be a solo tour in the works to spotlight Aliya’s new music?

I met this incredible young woman four years ago at a local class in Atlanta and had never left a place feeling so inspired. The energy in that room was pure magic! Recently, Aliya introduced “QNL University” as an extension of her Queens N’ Lettos brand, available exclusively through Patreon, giving dancers and fans global access to all of her original, iconic routines made famous by Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, and many other celebrities.

In honor of women’s history month, I wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate Mrs. Aliya Janell Brinson, for her continued contribution in entertainment, for the empowerment of women. In her famous words: “Bi***h, you better wear that crown”!

Some highlights from the interview:

  • Abbie: What has married life been like for you?
  • Aliya: “It feels exactly the same and I think that’s what it’s supposed to feel like. It feels like a friendship on fire!”
  • Abbie: “What is the realest experience you’ve had professionally, that you’ve never spoken about publicly?”
  • Aliya: “The realest moment that comes to me right now, that touches me every time I talk about it, is my first time performing at Beautycon it was my first time being invited and performing. In that experience I danced for the CEO of Beautycon, I got to dance in front of her and I also had one-on-one time with her. She was so in awe of me and so in awe of what I had to say, my story, and how I spoke to my queens, I was so grateful. I was [like], how can this happen to me, how did I just go from being an assistant to being one of many choreographers in LA that only had like 10 people in her class every single week, to being re-posted by all the greats on Instagram, to having my own little slot in Beautycon? It was just so surreal.”
