0Radio Personality Ollie Tansimore Creates the Etherine Tansimore Scholarship to Honor His Mom’s Legacy
Radio personality OT can’t think of a better way to honor his mom’s legacy than to help and encourage high school students to continue their education. That’s why OT, the host of the OT Radio Show, is currently encouraging students interested in the medical field to apply for the Etherine Tansimore Scholarship. The popular radio show can be heard in the Philadelphia area plus 2,700 cities and three countries. OT, whose real name is Ollie Tansimore, is also a motivational speaker and philanthropist. He began his radio show in 2009, with a goal of “where you get treated like family. When he announced the creation of the scholarship in honor of his mom, OT set a goal of offering $500 apiece to 10 students around the country. The funds will help them attend the college or university of their choosing. Basic eligibility to apply is pretty simple: every applicant currently must be a high school senior with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, they must come from a low-income background, and be interested in pursuing studies in the medical field when they get into an accredited college or university.
In the application, students are asked to share details about themselves, including their high school and community activities. They also are asked to describe their college and career plans, including why they are interested in studying in the field of medicine. The application deadline for the 2023-2024 school year is Dec. 15, and winners will be announced in January, with the funds available for fall 2023. In the scholarship description, it points out that employment in the medical field requires extraordinary and selfless people who are dedicated to helping others. Healthcare workers put the needs of others first and have committed to helping others. Plus, the recent COVID pandemic has emphasized how important the medical field and how much we rely on healthcare workers in a crisis. That’s why the scholarship is eager to find candidates interested in ways to help people’s lives. Along with seeking applicants, OT is also seeking financial support for the scholarship fund from businesses and individuals. Tax-deductible donations of any size can make sure the scholarship fund will be able to provide scholarships for the current cycle and for future years.
OT has been spreading the message about the opportunity to apply and donate to his show. He also recently appeared on “Good Morning Wilmington” to discuss it He grew up in the Philadelphia area and described his home as always being full of music. He studied computer science and then began his radio show, where he especially enjoys using his public platform to help others, especially local small businesses. Guests have included actors, chefs, musicians, authors and other.
One of his favorite recent interviews was with Michael Baisden, a fellow radio personality and also an author. Baisden encouraged listeners (including OT) to pursue their dreams and find ways to give back.
