Live Session with Ray Angry aka “Mr. Goldfinger”, who is a member of the seminal Hip Hop band The Roots (and house bands of “The Tonight Show” and “Saturday Night Live”), as well as a sought-after producer, arranger, and, composer for pop and Hip Hop’s biggest names. Ray Angry, is premiering his first orchestral composition, “BLACK ATHENA ~ POWER” with Lexington Symphony Orchestra outside Boston.
This is a dope Live Session with the revered pop music figure who is moving back to his other roots as a classically trained pianist and composer. We also touched on the ongoing challenge of bringing new voices into classical music, and the notoriously difficult task of finding traction for symphonic compositions after they premiere. Lastly, we had a good laugh when I mentioned my mother who was a classical concert pianist hoping I had some skill…Tune In!!!
