From Being Locked Up To Locking In Studio Time, Crack White Stays Winning

Born on the west side of Chicago, IL, Crack White is a natural talent ready to take the stage. Beginning to rap around the age of three, and knowing every song by Tupac, Biggie, Bone Thugs, Twista, and Crucial Conflict led to recording his first song at the age of 10. With years of developing his pen game, he drew name inspiration from his early success saying, `With the way my songs were taking off people would say that’s Crack, like my music was ‘Crack.’ [And]  my favorite color is white, everyone just adapted Cocaine Crack to Crack White.

As a rising artist, he finds it important to maintain a diverse playlist as opposed to listening to one style of music or just hip-hop or R&B. According to White, if it’s a good song he’ll listen to it. Despite being one of the hottest rappers to watch, he expresses the one thing that impacted his music journey the most – the death of his father. Shortly after this incident, Crack White got locked up and sat in his cell dealing with all of his thoughts. While thinking about how he ended up, he began daydreaming about what his future could look like.

Despite not being in jail long enough to get a notebook, Crack White received a kite from one of his homies, using it as his only piece of paper. Soon, he uncrumbled it, flipped it over, and started writing ‘smoke cake to the face and I’ll be damned if I let a fuck Nigga take my place.’ As soon as he got home, that same piece of paper he kept held the first verse to an unreleased song. Thirsty to look for beats on YouTube, Crack White was about to give up and said ‘’Imma try one more time and that was the beat. I kept writing and the rest was history.’ In the midst of working on his next album and determining his singles, Crack White confesses that he hasn’t locked in on a name yet, but hints at the possibility of it being called One of One. Custom, just like him.
