US Sports Camps-Howard University Partnership Launches with New Nike Basketball Camp

US Sports Camps (USSC), the official provider of Nike Sports Camps, recently announced its partnership with the Howard University men’s basketball program. One of the largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the county, Howard University is the first HBCU partnership for US Sports Camps.

This adds another highlight for, the Howard University men’s basketball team who, for the first time since 1992, earned a berth at this year’s NCAA tournament. The feat was accomplished via their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship Tournament win over Norfolk State, sending the Bison Men’s team to the March Madness main show.

The Nike Boys Basketball Camp at Howard University provides extensive opportunities for developing on-court skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance from one of the most respected head coaches in college basketball. In a testament to the program’s strength, the men’s basketball team won the 2023 MEAC conference and participated in the NCAA tournament.

“US Sports Camps is delighted to bring our first HBCU partnership with the Howard men’s basketball team. Kenneth Blakeney is an excellent college coach, and we are thrilled to have him as a partner,” said Seth Roberts, senior director of basketball at US Sports Camps. “He will lead the basketball camp and positively impact the greater DC community by teaching young athletes the game of basketball as well as important life skills.”

A two-time national title winner, Blakeney played for the Duke Blue Devils under coach Mike Krzyzewski. He went on to coach at several Division 1 schools, building a rich and extensive leadership background. In 2019, Blakeney was named Howard’s men’s basketball head coach.

“When I was young, one of the things I looked forward to most was summer basketball camp. It allowed me to develop my skills, compete, and make new friends. When I became a head coach, I wanted these camps to be a crucial facet of our program identity,” said Blakeney. “Providing these outlets for kids in the DC community can be life-changing; it certainly was for me. COVID-19 forced us to cancel our programs the last few summers, which makes me all the more excited for their return. We aim to provide the best Nike Sports Camp experience in the DMV.”

Registration for the Nike Boys Basketball Camp at Howard University is now open. Interested players, parents, and coaches can visit the website for more information. https://www.ussportscamps.com/basketball/nike/nike-basketball-camps-howard-university-boys
