Get to Know Salvo: From Classical Music to House Music
Meet Lauren Salvo, a talented singer-songwriter who goes by the stage name Salvo. Originally from Pennsylvania, Salvo has called many places home, including Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Rome, and New Jersey. Her upbringing greatly influenced her career path, as she participated in choir and drama and took classical voice lessons as a child.
“I carry all of that theory and classical knowledge with me today, and it shows in my vocals every once in a blue moon,” Salvo said. “Dance Dance Revolution was an early inspiration to me getting into house music.”
Salvo fell into the dance scene after a friend asked her to record and write a feature for him, which ended up doing well. She loved the idea of inspiring people to dance and express themselves with heavy bass sounds. “It was the first time I ever felt like ‘the cool kid’ and that true feeling of belonging,” she said.
Salvo’s passion for music and writing started at a young age. “I kept a journal my entire life from when I was 6 years old, so when I found that I could translate that passion into writing music and wasn’t half bad at it, I ran with it,” she said.
Salvo has found great support and inspiration from her colleagues in the music industry. “People like Yufi Zewdu, Lox Chatterbox, and Sarah de Warren to name a few have been the best of friends and people who inspire me every day,” she said.
When she’s not working, Salvo loves to unwind by playing video games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Zelda. She also likes to make silly TikTok videos, showing off her fun and playful personality.
Salvo’s talent and dedication to her craft have led her on an exciting career path, and she’s just getting started. Keep an eye out for her future projects and performances, as she continues to make waves in the music and dance scene.
In addition to her singing/songwriting in the dance world, Salvo is currently putting together a live DJ set. Keep an eye out for live shows in late 2023.
