King Koro is a “Hopeless Romantic”

Driven by passion and guided by faith, King Koro delivers spiritual, energy-infused hip-hop and R&B—crafting powerful anthems of resilience, love, and devotion—all pulsing with delightful youthful intensity. The son of a Houston pastor and ministry founder, the Church was woven into his life from a young age. Creating songs on his mother’s laptop and playing drums alongside his father’s organ, he felt a fire blazing within him—a deep, undeniable passion for music. But his path was far from easy. As a teenager, he lost his way, spiraling down a dangerous road that led to being kicked out of his home and experiencing nearly five years of homelessness in Chicago. Yet, through it all, his faith never truly left him. With a renewed spirit and a calling too powerful to ignore, he found his way back—back to Houston, back to ministry, and back to music, this time with a purpose greater than himself. On his upcoming album, KORONATION, King Koro puts it all on the table. Each track is a chapter of his story—his struggles, redemption, and unwavering optimism. Now, he’s ready to share his journey with the world—living his truth and encouraging all to pursue pure love and the blessings of God.

In a creative landscape often saturated with desirous and overtly sensual messaging—King Koro offers a refreshing perspective that honors the true essence of partnership: the soul-deep connections that make love feel effortless. As a “Hopeless Romantic,” he finds ease and peace in his relationship—where laughter flows freely, worries fade, and faith remains central. His signature style shines through every beat of the track. The snappy rhythm pulses with just the right energy, creating an atmosphere both uplifting and effortlessly smooth. His silky, heartfelt verses drip with sincerity and contentment, capturing the beauty of a love that is “not tainted by trauma” but instead, “peace with no drama.” It’s a celebration of love in its purest form—honest, sunny, and enduring. For those still figuring out what love should look like, King Koro provides a poignant reminder—love can be young, fun, and deeply meaningful—all at once.

You’ve been through a lot to get to this point in your personal life and career—talk to us a little bit about your journey thus far.

So far it’s been quite a ride God revealed his will for my life while I was still in my mothers womb a prophet prophesied over my mother belly and said God was goin to use me greatly in the realm of music and that I am anointed by God for it fast forward to how I remember being a teenager thinking I was a gangsta and also a Pastors Son who loved God for his self, all at the same time to being kick out for disrespecting my parents house and rules to moving to Chicago in my early 20s experiencing homelessness recovering from that to starting a family with 2 boys and buying my first luxury condo then me getting in a fatal car accident not being able to walk or move my right side losing my home car and family at the same time to now recovering from that to focusing on the big picture of it all which is to be able to share with everyone that Gods love is all around us not just in church but it’s everything and every where and I’m greatful he gave me exactly how to spread and express just that. So yes I had to endure very hard times and honestly would take none of it back because I for sure wouldn’t know God the way I do now for myself also through all of that I never lost faith in Jesus and I never stopped creating music and receiving songs from Heaven and I can’t wait for the world to hear the genuine pure love and passion that is embodied in my new single Hopeless Romantic

How did the idea for this song first come to you? Were you inspired by a moment of reflection, prayer, or a personal relationship?

Honestly, I believe and I know exactly what and who God showed me concerning my wife however even that takes a whole lot of faith to trust God in the sense it’s concerning another’s free will, I would have to share that story another time however I begin to pay attention to the ways God truly made it so clear to me from 8th grade to 2025 and it was so different it wasn’t lust it wasn’t an evil motive or strings attached type thing at all it she wasn’t even developed at all the way she is now it was just like when God made eve and Adam saw her he knew that he knew that God made her for him a bone of his bone and so that is the inspiration and the what birth Hopeless Romantic it’s a song to express true love pursuit that honors God and is not corny.

What does the phrase “Hopeless Romantic” mean to you, and how do you explore this theme in the track?

Hopeless Romantic Google definition is someone who has an idealistic view of love and romance. They may believe in soulmates, fairy-tale endings, and grand gestures This is exactly how I also felt about love I have always loved God’s concept of marriage and love to be honest everybody that has the love of God has a lil Hopeless Romantic in them towards the person it’s ok to pursue love and still maintain morals and character of both male and female

What makes “Hopeless Romantic” stand apart from other songs with a similar sound?

Melodic lines and bars are a dime a dozen however when you can partake in melodic melodies and faith-based principles that don’t just tickle religious ears but human hearts and bodies as well you got yourself something that nothing and nobody can or should want to compete with its a song that is timeless one you can enjoy with your kids, say every lyric and not feel guilty and your lover a song you can play in the club and at church it’s a song that honors an experience every human deserves to feel at its peak and that’s true love.

Who could you not have done the “Hopeless Romantic” music video without it? What was your collaboration process like?

I absolutely could not have done this project without my bro William Thomas awesome guy he was the head Director of the video and was such a blessing to work with some things came up the day before the shoot and we almost had to cancel it all and Will said fly in come stay at my crib and let’s have fun and shoot this video so huge shouts out to my bro Will. The process was supper fun the dancers the models and the crew were all very positive and fun to work with we shot from 6 am to 12 am that day so it was for sure a lot of work but also a lot of fun.

What is your favorite scene or visual element from the music video?

I would have to say the dance-off scene because I honestly didn’t think I could pull of dancing and doing choreography so to be able to learn and do it was very new and exciting for me to be visually creative for the amazing cast and choreography.

How did your faith influence the lyrics and overall message of the song and music video? Why is sharing your faith important to you?

Faith is the root of everything you will hear from King Koro in this song my assignment was simple and that was to create a song and a video that would be a real-time example of things to listen for look for and to expect when pursuing love as a people of Faith. Me and Christina talked about the pop-the-balloon scene I wanted to use that space to make a person of faith have a real-life example of what this world offers and what God offers if you can just wait and trust him for it. It’s very important to share my faith because after experiencing Rock Bottom to see now more than ever how even when I had the smallest amount of faith God still was right there with me and has blessed me more than any material thing could ever do and I would truly feel like I robbed the world and my self if I don’t share my faith in every way God has designed me to share it
