MAXIM hosted its high-energy “Welcome To The Desert” 2025 festival kickoff party with a star-studded pre-game event celebrating the debut of Cindy Crawford’s April “Take Flight” cover and the theatrical release of rap legend Too $hort’s ‘Freaky Tales’ film. Held at the sprawling Laguna Seca estates in Bermuda Dunes, CA, the bash featured a special live performance by Too $hort, with his latest album dropping April 18th.
Celebrity sightings included Wiz Khalifa, David Dobrik, Amber Rose, Dale Moss, Alissa Violet, Blake Gray, Patrick Ta, Faze Banks, and more, turning up alongside over 1,000 VIP guests until 2 AM. Notables from music, film, fashion, and influencer culture mingled across the event’s unique desert-chic layout, which transformed an airplane hangar into the epicenter of nightlife.
The evening included performances by DJs Beau Cruz, Quenville, Lightleak, and Hamoodie, plus interactive brand activations by True Religion, Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, Absolut, Casa Azul Tequila, Cloud 23 x 10/10 Burger, Live Tinted, LaCroix, Monster Energy, and many more.
The immersive night also highlighted the buzz surrounding ‘Freaky Tales,’ co-executive-produced by David Weintraub and Too $hort and directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. The Lionsgate film features a powerhouse cast and marks the late Angus Cloud’s final movie appearance.
