Live! At the Library of Congress: July Events & Exhibits Guide
Trivia nights, classic films, lectures, and exhibits await during extended hours at the Library of Congress this July.

Special Guest: Kwame Anthony Appiah

On July 24, visitors to the Library of Congress are invited to a compelling evening with Kwame Anthony Appiah, the 2024 John W. Kluge Prize recipient. Appiah, known for his work in philosophy and law, will lead a live ethics session where guests engage with real-world dilemmas.
Trivia Night at the Library
On July 10, teams can test their knowledge of American history, literature, and Library collections during a unique trivia night. Participants will also get to interact with collection items and experts. Event begins at 5:45 p.m. in Room LJ-119.
Summer Movies on the Lawn
Every Wednesday evening in July, guests can enjoy outdoor screenings of iconic films on the Southeast Lawn. This month’s lineup includes ‘Grease,’ ‘The Goonies,’ ‘Spy Kids,’ and ‘The Muppet Movie.’ No tickets required.
Lectures and Literary Conversations
On July 17, Ephraim Isaac explores the Ethiopic Book of Enoch at 6:30 p.m. in the Whittall Pavilion. That same evening, A’Lelia Bundles and Glory Edim will discuss Black women writers in Room LJ-119.
Happy Hour and Exhibition Access
Each Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., visitors can enjoy drinks and snacks in the Great Hall, explore exhibitions, and experience Washington’s most beautiful reading space—the Main Reading Room.

For events during Live! At the Library, please use the event registration ticketing link found next to the event below or at loc.gov/live. This ticket grants access to the program as well as the Library’s exhibitions and the happy hour portion of the evening.

Featured exhibitions include ‘The Two Georges,’ ‘Collecting Memories,’ Jefferson’s Library, and editorial cartoons by Herblock. Also explore ‘Showstoppers,’ a Broadway-to-Hollywood display, and ‘A National Treasure,’ celebrating the Jefferson Building.
