Drama Meets Mic Drop: LadyLane Stars in Exclusive “Damn” Release from Drama Drop Series
The Hype Magazine named official media partner for dramatic new spin on Drop From The Shop

Introducing the Drama Drop Format
Set inside the gritty ambiance of Hydropops NC Smoke Shop in Greensboro, Drop From The Shop is the only mic drop series broadcast straight from a smoke shop — a raw, unfiltered stage where energy and artistry collide. Building on that energy, Drama Drop introduces a scripted drama element before each performance, leading into the artist’s live drop in a seamless blend of acting and lyrical delivery.
“The feel of this new drop is a genuine mix of drama and mic drop,” said Steve Raze, the creative force behind the concept. “It’s not just about bars anymore — it’s about storytelling, energy, and capturing a cinematic moment.”
Spotlight: LadyLane – “Damn”
Today’s feature showcases rising star LadyLane in her Drama Drop performance titled “Damn” — a high-impact, emotionally driven visual experience that blends performance art with lyrical excellence.
LadyLane’s delivery, matched with cinematic tension and dramatic build-up, underscores why she’s a name to watch. Known for her unapologetic lyricism and stage presence, “Damn” is her boldest performance yet — a signal of what’s possible when visual storytelling and mic skill converge.
Behind the Movement: Waleed Coyote and Steve Raze
The collaboration stems from the creative vision of Waleed Coyote, CEO of Othaz Records, a Greensboro music industry mainstay responsible for breaking multi-platinum artist Luke Nasty. Under his mentorship, artists like Shaun Milli, JuiceGod LP, and LadyLane continue to make waves, guided by a foundation of authenticity and hustle.
“Drop From The Shop was always about giving the realest artists a platform,” said Waleed. “Now, with Drama Drop, we’re leveling it up — it’s still real, but now it’s art too.”
I built The Hype Magazine brand to spotlight new and developing talent and initiatives over two decades ago and as we enter our “Jordan Year”, 23 years as the #1 digital magazine in the world, it gives me great pleasure to continue our legacy of being the trusted media partner for dynamic programming such as this with Steve, and Waleed ~ Dr. Jameelah Wilkerson, CEO/Publisher
A New Era for Independent Culture
With social influencers like Hustle Cartel and a deep bench of emerging talent, the Drop From The Shop and Drama Drop series are quickly becoming cultural markers for the new wave of Southern-rooted artistry.
As the official media partner, The Hype Magazine will spotlight exclusive performances, behind-the-scenes content, and artist interviews — continuing its mission to elevate authentic voices across the entertainment landscape.
Steve and I have been connected for over a decade and I’ve long admired his work in the media, television and film space, so the opportunity to partner The Hype Magazine and his team to deliver this bold new editorial direction pleases me greatly ~ Dr. Jerry Doby, Editor-in-Chief
