Terrace Martin And Kenyon Dixon Release Collaboration Album “Come As You Are”

Famed producer and multi-instrumentalist Terrace Martin, known for his Grammy®-nominated work with Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Herbie Hancock and Robert Glasper, joins forces with Grammy®-nominated R&B artist Kenyon Dixon for a new collaborative album,“Come As You Are.” The deeply rooted, genre-bending, 13-song project redefines the boundaries of R&B, Jazz, and Hip-hop through the lens of two sons of South LA. A seamless marriage of sound and storytelling, the album, available, celebrates the beauty and complexity of Watts and South Central while pushing the boundaries of soul, offering a fresh prospective grounded in authenticity and legacy.

“Come As You Are” is a mixture and a sonic picture of the true roots of Los Angeles Jazz, R&B & Hip-Hop,” said Martin. “From the soul of Watts to the heart of the Crenshaw District I feel we have painted the best piece for its time.”

From the very first track, “Come As You Are” radiates warmth and authenticity. It feels like the spirit of a late-night jam session, where the church meets the street, and the horns speak as loudly as the vocals. Martin’s signature fusion of live instrumentation, analog textures, and forward-thinking production blends seamlessly with Dixon’s emotionally rich, velvet-toned vocal performance.

Throughout the project, you’ll hear lush layers of instrumentation: hypnotic saxophone runs, warm keys, trumpet swells, funky bass grooves, gospel-rooted pianos, and shimmering guitar riffs. The album features an impressive lineup of artists and musicians, including Robert Glasper, Rapsody, Ogi, Keyon Harrold, Charlie Bereal, and a special appearance by Kenyon’s daughter, Isley-Rose Dixon. The result is a sonic landscape that is both expansive and intimate—inviting listeners into a world that refuses to be categorized.

“Come As You Are” is about freedom in every sense, creative freedom, cultural freedom, and personal freedom. Me and Terrace came up in different environments, but we were both raised in that balance between the church and the city,” Kenyon says. “It shaped us. This album is what happens when you stop trying to compartmentalize who you are and just let it all live in the music. The spirit, the soul, the streets, the musicianship—it’s all there. No labels, no boxes. Just real expression. That’s the point. You don’t need permission. Just show up as yourself.”

The album’s release was led by the dual single “211 / See You Later”, a sultry, jazz-laced introduction that captures the mood and mission of the entire body of work. Martin’s bass-heavy production sets the foundation, while Dixon delivers an emotionally raw and vocally pristine performance about love, passion, and presence.
