RAYE and Mark Ronson Reunite on “Grandma Calls The Boy Bad News”

Following her highly anticipated “Suzanne” collaboration released with Mark Ronson earlier this month, global star RAYE returns for a new Ronson-produced track off the star-studded F1® THE ALBUM, titled “Grandma Calls The Boy Bad News.” The song is available now at all online retailers in conjunction with the theatrical release of the Apple Original Films’ F1® THE MOVIE feature film, distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. Stream RAYE’s contribution and listen to the full all-new soundtrack.
From the team that brought you the award-winning, blockbuster soundtracks Barbie The Album, Twisters: The Album, The Greatest Showman, Suicide Squad and more, F1® THE ALBUM is the supercharged and star-studded musical companion to the high-octane, action-packed film F1® THE MOVIE, starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick). The all-new soundtrack features 17 massive new tracks from an unprecedented lineup of superstar artists, including RAYE, Burna Boy, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, ROSÉ, Sexyy Red, Tate McRae, and more.
“Grandma Calls The Boy Bad News” marks the second single issued this month from RAYE and Ronson. On June 13th, the superstar duo surprise dropped “Suzanne,” marking the first taste of new music from RAYE since the North London native became the only artist ever nominated simultaneously for Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year at the 2025 GRAMMY Awards. “Suzanne” features Ronson’s signature production, elevated by a vibrant horn section that evokes the feel of an intimate club while channeling the timeless magic both artists love. A collaboration long in the making, the song was initiated by luxury Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet, of which both artists are brand ambassadors. Celebrating 150 years, this perfect union is part of the brand’s AP x Music series.
Fresh off a triumphant 25,000-strong performance at Governors Ball, RAYE is set to continue her commanding festival run this summer at Glastonbury (June 28), Montreux Jazz Festival (July 9), and Newport Jazz Festival (August 1) – before returning home to headline London’s sold-out All Points East (August 23) alongside special guests Doechii, Tyla, and JADE.
ABOUT RAYE
British musician, singer, songwriter, and producer RAYE is redefining contemporary music. An independent artist and three-time 2025 GRAMMY nominee, the South London native made Recording Academy history as the first to earn nods in both Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical) categories in the same year. This milestone follows her historic sweep at the 2024 BRIT Awards, where she took home a record-breaking six awards–surpassing previous record holders Adele and Harry Styles–and became the first woman ever named Songwriter of the Year.
Since her 2014 debut, RAYE has charted eight Top 20 UK singles and amassed over six Billion Spotify streams. Her genre-defying catalog seamlessly blends contemporary pop, R&B, hip-hop, gospel, jazz, big band, and dance music as heard on collaborations with Stormzy, Central Cee, Lucky Daye, David Guetta, Jax Jones, and Disclosure. Heralded as “the voice of a generation” and “the UK’s finest songwriter” by the Ivors Academy, RAYE’s songwriting has attracted global stars such as Beyoncé, Charli xcx, and Jennifer Lopez as well as rising artists like JADE and Halle Bailey.
RAYE’s 2023 independently-released debut album, My 21st Century Blues (Human Re Sources/The Orchard), was a critical and commercial success, led by her first UK No. 1 hit “Escapism.” – a global anthem that peaked in the Top 10 in over 20 countries and has been certified RIAA Double Platinum in the U.S. The track propelled her to international stardom, headlining over 150 shows across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the UK.
She’s since delivered rousing live performances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, and Montreux Jazz Festival. 2024 brought another banner year: a triumph at the BRITs, a standout opening set at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium, and memorable TV appearances on Saturday Night Live, The Kelly Clarkson Show, American Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, and Kennedy Center Honors.
Following back-to-back viral performances at the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards and 97th Annual Academy Awards, RAYE joined LISA and Doja Cat on the global pop anthem “Born Again,” which she co-wrote and co-produced. The track debuted on multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100 (No. 68) and the Dance Streaming Songs chart (No. 2). Most recently, RAYE has teamed up with globally celebrated DJ and Academy Award, Golden Globe, and 9-time GRAMMY-winning producer and songwriter Mark Ronson for summer singles “Suzanne” and “Grandma Calls The Boy Bad News” both out now.
