A Taste of East Memorial Drive: Cuisine, Culture and Community

A Taste of East Memorial Drive: Community, Culture & Revitalization
This Saturday, September 27, from 12 PM to 7 PM, the community will gather for A Taste of East Memorial Drive on National Good Neighbors Day. The event will take place at Memorial Square, 5479 Memorial Drive, Stone Mountain, GA. It is a free, family-friendly festival organized by the Center for Truth and Healing to celebrate the cuisine, culture, and community in the East Memorial Drive corridor.
Revitalizing Memorial Drive: A Shared Vision
Memorial Drive has long been a vital corridor in DeKalb County, but in recent years, the community has rallied behind efforts to revitalize the area. One of the strongest champions of this work has been former Commissioner Steve Bradshaw. His commitment to the Memorial Drive Revitalization Plan has opened new pathways for business growth, cultural enrichment, and neighborhood pride.
The plan envisions Memorial Drive as a thriving hub of commerce and community — a place where small businesses flourish, families feel connected, and diverse cultures are celebrated. Events like A Taste of East Memorial Drive and the efforts of the county’s current CEO, Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, and others are essential in bringing that vision to life.
Community Vendors & Marketplace
This year’s festival will feature a dynamic lineup of vendors, including:
Local food vendors serving authentic flavors from across the globe
Artisans and small businesses showcasing handcrafted goods, clothing, jewelry, and cultural treasures
Community nonprofits providing free resources and information for families
Resource booths offering services, support, and connections for DeKalb County residents
Vendor participation is the heartbeat of the festival, and spaces are still open for those who want to be part of this unique community celebration. Click here for tickets, vendor, and sponsorship opportunities.
Sponsors & Partners: Building Together
A Taste of East Memorial Drive would not be possible without the generous support of its sponsors and partners. Special thanks to organizations like the Atrium Performing Arts Center, DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, JenCare Senior Medical Centers, The Hype Magazine, Brinca the Equalyzer, General Tso’s Restaurant and Catering, DeKalb Public Health, The Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, along with other local businesses and community partners who have come together to make this event a reality.
Their sponsorship ensures that families can enjoy a free community festival while also supporting the growth and development of East Memorial Drive.
What We Still Need: Join the Movement
While much has been accomplished, the work continues. The organizers are still looking for:
Additional sponsors to help expand programming and support future revitalization efforts
Vendors (food, artisan, and small businesses) to showcase their goods and services
Live performers for open jam sessions, giving local talent a platform to shine
Volunteers to help with setup, cleanup, and festival activities
If you are a community member, business owner, performer, or organization looking to get involved, this is the perfect opportunity to contribute to a meaningful movement. If you would like to support, contribute, perform, or volunteer, email the organizers at sponsorship@truthandhealing.org.
Why It Matters

By supporting small businesses, highlighting community organizations, and giving families a safe and fun space to connect, we are collectively building a stronger, more unified Memorial Drive.
