IAMDWALK Embodies the Rhythm of Resilience with ‘Brown In Word’ Album

Derrick “IAMDWALK” Walker, acclaimed spoken word artist, poet, and cultural innovator, has entered first-round Grammy consideration for his 2025 album Brown In Word. Voting for the first round began on October 3 and continues through October 15, marking a significant milestone in Derrick’s career as a leading voice in contemporary spoken word and music. Derrick’s live appearances highlight his commitment to merging performance, culture, and community impact. From intimate spoken word showcases to high-profile civic and cultural events, his work continues to inspire and elevate audiences while fostering opportunities for artists and entrepreneurs.

A long-standing Artist-in-Residence at the South Dallas Cultural Center, Derrick has performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, contributed to national television and stage productions, and produced projects alongside industry icons such as Adam Blackstone. He is also the founder of #fortheculture, an Economic Cultural Hub of Opportunity (ECHO), supporting artists and entrepreneurs through education, mentorship, and creative collaboration.
