Havilah Malone Earns Micheaux Film Festival Honors for “I’m In Love” and Expands Her Impact Behind The Camera

The award-winning actress and producer celebrates recent successes at the Micheaux Film Festival, Film Fest at LA Live, and Screamfest NOLA.

Acclaimed actress, author, and spoken word artist Havilah Malone continues to prove that her mantra, “Be Proof of What’s Possible,” is more than words. At this year’s Micheaux Film Festival in Los Angeles, Malone took home the award for Outstanding Music Video for her captivating short film I’m In Love. The honor further solidifies her place as a creative force redefining the intersection of poetry, film, and self-expression.

Inspired by the first track from her critically celebrated spoken word album Proof of What’s Possible, I’m In Love unfolds as a visual journey through love, vulnerability, and liberation. Guided by a mesmerizing voice and a mysterious map, Malone’s storytelling transcends medium, offering a poetic and emotionally resonant experience that reflects both the beauty and courage of self-discovery.

“This win is deeply personal,” Malone shared. “I’m In Love and Proof of What’s Possible are born from a place of truth, about learning to see yourself fully and love yourself without condition. Every story I tell is meant to remind others that their possibilities are limitless.”

The Micheaux Film Festival, celebrated for uplifting diverse and inclusive voices in entertainment, marked another milestone in Malone’s expanding international acclaim. I’m In Love has already earned awards at festivals across France, Greece, and the United Kingdom, including the Filmic Brilliance Award at the NEW WBC Women in Entertainment Conference. The short film recently screened at Film Fest at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles’ Regal Cinema. Earlier this year, Malone also received a Certificate of Recognition from the California State Legislature for her cultural and community impact.

In addition to her work as an actress and author, Havilah Malone continues to expand her influence behind the camera. As Executive Producer and Casting Director for Worst Thing You’ve Ever Done, she played a key role in shaping the film’s creative vision and emotional tone. Malone’s approach to casting prioritized depth, authenticity, and on-screen chemistry, ensuring each performance reflected the raw humanity at the heart of the story. Her leadership throughout development and production helped bring Director PJ Germain’s vision to life, blending psychological tension with character-driven storytelling that resonates far beyond the thriller genre.

Her spoken word album Proof of What’s Possible, which was recently under Grammy consideration in two categories: Best Spoken Word Poetry Album and Best Album Cover, extends her artistic vision beyond film. The project fuses lyrical storytelling with sonic empowerment, inviting listeners to confront self-doubt and embrace their own potential.

Known for her memorable roles in HBO’s Barry, Insecure, and NCIS: New Orleans, as well as national campaigns for Macy’s, Purina, and Best Buy, Malone continues to expand her creative reach both in front of and behind the camera. Through every medium—film, music, literature, and performance—she is crafting a legacy rooted in courage, authenticity, and transformation.

As Malone’s star continues to rise, I’m In Love stands as a testament to what happens when art meets truth and when a woman dares to tell her own story on her own terms.
