Kwae Kobain returns with bold 2-track Hip-Hop and Afro Fusion EP ‘AHAMKARA’

Soul-rooted artist and curator Kwae Kobain continues to redefine the boundaries of modern music with the release of his latest 2-track EP, ‘AHAMKARA’. Fusing hip-hop grit with melodic, introspective depth, Kwae delivers a body of work that feels both personal and transcendent, a sonic exploration of selfhood, vulnerability, and rebirth.
For over a decade, Kwae Kobain has used music to illuminate the raw edges of the human experience, crafting stories that balance poetry and truth. With AHAMKARA, he dives deeper than ever, channeling the Sanskrit concept of self-identification, “Ahamkara” meaning “I-making”, to reflect on the tension between ideals and realities.
The EP opens with “JADED”, a chilled yet emboldened hip-hop track that blends introspection with avant-garde energy. Kwae’s autotuned vocals glide between vulnerability and confidence, creating an atmosphere that’s at once heartfelt and futuristic, a sound that challenges convention while remaining unmistakably him.
On the flip side, “Sirens” ventures into Afro-fusion territory, driven by intricate, Afro-infused rhythms and Kwae’s soulful, captivating flow. It’s a song that feels alive, a pulse of rhythm and meaning, where every line resonates with emotion and purpose.
“‘I-making’ feels like the perfect way to communicate the experience of creating this album. Constantly reinventing myself, these two songs speak to the core aspects of what Kwae Kobain is, they speak to Identity, my Ahamkara.” At its core, ‘AHAMKARA’ represents the meeting point between introspection and innovation, an EP that’s as much about self-discovery as it is about sound evolution. Kwae Kobain stands out through his bold integration of underrepresented cultural imagery, drawing inspiration from the Hausa, Arabic, Hindi, and Sanskrit languages, and weaving in visual influences from Fauvism, Expressionism, alternative Nigerian fashion, tantra, and body art.
