Major Lazer Usher In New Era With Gyalgebra and New Member America Foster

Major Lazer’s hotly-anticipated new mixtape GYALGEBRA is out today via Mad Decent, marking the group’s first self-contained body of work in five years and the start of a bold new chapter with America Foster.
Get it.
GYALGEBRA is the multi-Platinum, genre-defying group’s first release with their newest member, America, a London-born multi-hyphenate whose talent ignites five of the mixtape’s tracks. Her razor-sharp verses take center stage on the explosive “PEPPA POT” and the recent single “BRUK DOWN,” featuring iconic dancer-choreographer Parris Goebel and Toronto it-girl SadBoi. Additional contributions from Dominican powerhouse Tokischa, Basshall pioneer Kybba and longtime collaborators and dancehall giants Bunji Garlin and Busy Signal amplify the group’s Caribbean DNA. The project blends dancehall, drill, shatta, zess, dembow, soca, bouyon, Miami jook, Funk carioca and much more to push their global sound into exhilarating new territory.
“GYALGEBRA is all about having fun, we want you guys to move and enjoy life,” says America. “Girl math is all about making excuses to live in the present—don’t worry about tomorrow!—and that’s exactly what we want from you guys: tune in, live in the present and party with us. It won’t be hard as we have some amazing names and voices on this mixtape. From yours truly, we ventured over to the hot island of Trinidad and Tobago with Lady Lava and added the Latina spice that is nice with Tokischa, but the list doesn’t end there. Make sure you check out GYALGEBRA.”
America’s journey to Major Lazer is as thrilling as the mixtape itself. Working as a security guard, she connected with Diplo last year and, after their first meeting in London, flew straight to his Jamaica studio to record. Within hours, America was officially part of Major Lazer. Her electrifying freestyles on Capital XTRA and Apple Music Radio have gone massively viral, with one becoming an official remix of Lazer’s return single “GANGSTA.”
After a year of explosive pop-ups and DJ sets around the globe, Major Lazer will bring GYALGEBRA to the world in 2026. The group is set to make their long-awaited return to Coachella—their first appearance there in a decade—and headline Ultra, with more dates to be announced.
Founded to further Diplo’s studio experimentation and celebrate a lifelong love of Caribbean music, Major Lazer has become one of the most successful groups of all time. The global-pop kings have dominated the charts with hits including the Diamond-certified “Lean On,” 4x Platinum-certified “Cold Water” and 2x Platinum-certified “Light It Up.” Their collaborations include Beyoncé, J Balvin, Nicki Minaj, WizKid, El Alfa, Burna Boy, Travis Scott, Ariana Grande and many more. A live juggernaut, the group has blown minds on tour and at festivals around the world for more than 15 years. In 2024, Major Lazer celebrated the 15th anniversary of their seminal 2009 debut album, Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do.
