Tamaira Sandifer’s 25-Year STAE Legacy Is Redefining What Creative Empowerment Looks Like
The nonprofit powerhouse celebrates a major milestone with a national expansion with Gensler, a new kids’ edutainment show 'Aunt Tee's Corner', and a Skywalker Ranch Escape for Emerging Leaders

If you have ever seen Tamaira “Miss Tee” Sandifer in a room full of young people, you already understand why her presence feels legendary. She has a way of commanding attention without raising her voice, shifting energy without forcing anything, and inspiring belief in young creatives who have never before been given permission to dream out loud. Her influence is the kind that lingers long after the workshop ends.
That is why the news of her return to Disney Dreamers Academy in 2026 feels so significant. Last year she stepped into the role of Judge and Master Teacher for the first time and instantly became one of the most talked-about mentors on site. During her Servant Leadership workshop, students experienced the kind of breakthroughs that make you reevaluate how you see yourself. Some were moved to tears, others left with renewed confidence and clarity, and many described their time with her as life-changing. Watching Black and Brown teenagers walk out of her session with their heads higher and their dreams activated still stands out as one of the most powerful moments of the program.
As Miss Tee prepares to guide a new class of Dreamers, her organization, Studio T Arts and Entertainment, known widely as STAE, enters its own milestone moment. The year 2026 marks twenty-five years of service, impact, and creative leadership. What began in Sacramento as a grassroots dance program has become a national force in creative workforce development, arts education, and economic empowerment for communities too often left out of the creative economy.
The upcoming twenty-fifth anniversary gala will take place on January 24, 2026 at the expansive STAE Innovation Factory campus in Sacramento. The celebration highlights how far the organization has come and points to where it is headed next. In partnership with global architecture firm Gensler, STAE is advancing an estimated thirty-million-dollar expansion that will bring creative, health, and technology hubs to cities such as Tulsa, Philadelphia, Harlem, and Atlanta. These are communities rich in culture, talent, and history, yet often underserved in terms of access to arts infrastructure and creative resources. STAE’s expansion intends to change that reality.
One of the most exciting new developments is the launch of Aunt Tee’s Corner, a children’s edutainment series created to spark imagination and cultural pride in the next generation. The series blends storytelling, music, and creativity in a way that feels joyful and intentional. It is filmed at STAE’s Innovation Factory and produced by STAE Media, offering young children a relatable, heart-centered guide who looks like the very kids she serves. Aunt Tee’s Corner speaks directly to Miss Tee’s belief that creativity is not just a pastime but a pathway.
The testimonials from students at Disney Dreamers Academy reflect the depth of her impact. Several shared that she helped them see potential they did not know they had. One said her words changed the trajectory of their life. Another expressed gratitude for the way she made them feel seen and supported. Their reactions were echoed by MidFlorida Newspaper, which described her workshop as absolutely inspiring and noted how students were moved to openly share their dreams, some doing so publicly for the first time.
STAE’s numbers over the last twenty-five years tell their own story. The organization has served more than 282,000 youth and trained thousands of educators. Students have launched businesses, performed with major artists, entered film and television, and built sustainable creative careers. Nearly two-thirds of program participants report earning more than their parents, which speaks to the organization’s ability to turn creative passions into real economic mobility. For many families, this is generational change in motion.
Miss Tee’s leadership has earned recognition on a global scale. She has been honored as a Forbes Culture 50 Champion, a Stevie Awards Woman in Business, a California Woman of the Year, and a Los Angeles Times Inspirational Woman Honoree. Her journey from growing up in poverty in the Bay Area to becoming a nationally recognized cultural architect is a reminder of what is possible when someone refuses to give up on their community or themselves.
Another powerful element entering STAE’s next chapter is the upcoming Skywalker Ranch Escape. The invitation-only STAE Legacy Summit will bring together emerging impact-driven leaders at the iconic Northern California retreat created by George Lucas. The setting alone inspires imagination, collaboration, and deep creativity, making it the ideal environment for visionaries who are building the future of arts, culture, and community innovation.
As STAE steps into 2026, its programming reflects the same commitment to joy, culture, entrepreneurship, and community that has defined the last twenty-five years. Festivals, block parties, entrepreneurship accelerators, cultural events, family gatherings, and creative workshops fill the calendar, creating a vibrant ecosystem for people of all ages to learn, create, and thrive.
As Culture Editor and as someone who deeply believes in the power of creative empowerment for Black and Brown communities, I see Miss Tee’s work as essential. I have spent years telling stories about leaders, artists, activists, and visionaries who change the world not by following existing rules but by rewriting them. Miss Tee is one of those leaders. Her work proves that when you provide access, mentorship, and a safe space to dream, you shift entire communities. You shift families. You shift futures.
This is not just the story of a return to Disney Dreamers Academy. It is the story of a woman, a movement, and an entire organization building the blueprint for what creative economies can look like when they serve everyone.
