On Saturday, February 7, the Bay City native brought that vision to life at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg, Texas, hosting Third Coast Bucking, a hybrid rodeo and music festival that immersed fans in the full scope of Lone Star State culture.
Presented by Hooked Up Productions and hosted alongside his family, the event was equal parts adrenaline and anthem. Professional and amateur bull riders opened the night, kicking up dirt before a packed Southeast Texas crowd. By the time the stage lights cut through the fairground dust, Third Coast Bucking had evolved into a full-scale concert celebration.
For OT, it was more than a show. It was a declaration.
Rodeo Roots and Hip Hop Energy
That Mexican OT, born Virgil Rene Gazca, has built his identity at the crossroads of Hip Hop and Texas tradition. He does not separate cowboy culture from rap culture. He blends them.
The 27-year-old closed the night with an electric performance that underscored his growing national presence. Houston rap legend Paul Wall joined the lineup, reinforcing the city’s longstanding influence on Southern Hip Hop. Rising country artist Braxton Keith added a distinctly Texas twang, while frequent collaborator DRODi brought high-energy chemistry that longtime fans recognize immediately.
Perhaps the most talked-about moment came when OT stepped beyond the stage and into the arena. Attempting his hand at bullfighting, he faced a bucking beast head-on and emerged mostly unscathed. It was not a publicity stunt. It was immersion. OT was not hosting the culture from a distance. He was inside it.

Third Coast Bucking arrives at a pivotal chapter in OT’s ascent. The larger-than-life figure is currently preparing the follow-up to his 2025 album Recess, released via Capitol Records, GoodTalk, Good Money Global, and Manifest. The project positioned him as one of Texas Hip Hop’s most dynamic voices, and anticipation for the next release continues to build.
Critical praise has followed his evolution across major publications. Pitchfork described him as “a consummate entertainer,” noting that he underscores “how syncretic Texas music has always been.” The Los Angeles Times observed that “That Mexican OT is having a moment.” The Washington Post wrote, “That Mexican OT looks like a cowboy. But he sounds like a rap star.” The FADER noted that “He’s got his fans hopped up on the same giddy multiculturalism as he is.” The Houston Chronicle praised his creativity and style, while SPIN emphasized his ability to bridge generational divides. Touring Without Pause
The rodeo-meets-Hip Hop spectacle also signals a new phase of touring for the artist. Later this month, OT launches a nine-date run across Texas and the Plains region, then joins Yelawolf and Prof for dates across Canada and the Northern United States.
The schedule follows last year’s Recess Tour, which spanned more than 50 dates across two legs. OT has become a road warrior, building his audience city by city and fairground by fairground.

Paull Wall & DRODi and the critically acclaimed album Lonestar Luchador–earning “Best of” recognition from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Complex, and Pitchfork–That Mexican OT took his success to a new level in 2024.
