From Viral Hit to Global Link-Up: How Joshua Baraka Recruited Shenseea for the “Morocco” Remix

When Joshua Baraka dropped “Morocco” at the tail end of 2025, it didn’t take long for the record to start moving on its own.

Built on an Afrobashment bounce and produced by his longtime collaborator AXON, the track quickly found its way into clubs, party circuits, and social media timelines. Co-signs from names like Stormzy, French Montana, and Rio Ferdinand only added fuel to the fire, and as the song’s reach kept expanding, talk of a remix started to feel inevitable.

But the Shenseea feature didn’t come together in a studio session. It actually started onstage.

Earlier this year, Baraka joined the Jamaican star during her headline show at BK Arena in Rwanda after being invited out personally. When he performed “Morocco” live, the crowd reaction was instant. The energy in the room, paired with the natural chemistry between both artists, planted the seed for what would eventually become the official remix.

Behind the scenes, A&R Dizzy Clean Face helped lock the collaboration in through his company We Good LLC, helping bridge the worlds of East African Afrobeats and Caribbean dancehall in a way that felt organic rather than forced.

On the remix, mixed by 2x GRAMMY-winner Jae5, Shenseea slides onto the record effortlessly. Her verse adds a sultry, confident edge before she flips the hook into a playful back-and-forth with Baraka … giving the track a fresh narrative dynamic while keeping the original vibe intact.

The release continues what’s already been a breakout run for Baraka, following sold-out tour dates across Africa and Europe and the viral momentum of “Wrong Places.” Tapping Shenseea, one of dancehall’s most globally recognized voices, signals just how far his reach is stretching.

What started as a viral Afrobashment single has now turned into a cross-continental moment — one sparked not by strategy, but by a live performance that simply felt too big not to run back.
