RockRackz Gets the “Icky” Ready for 4/20

In rap, few artists lay out the truth in a way that feels validating, fresh, and genuinely fun—but RockRackz makes it look easy, crafting tracks that hit just as hard as they groove. Born in East Saint Louis and raised in nearby Madison, IL, RockRackz navigated a tumultuous upbringing marked by a constant push to avoid the negative environments around him. Determined to forge a different path, he joined the US Army after high school and has been grinding towards his dreams ever since. “Erryday I look for reasons to be inspired to do something,” says RockRackz—and that mindset informs everything he does, from music to entrepreneurship and beyond.

Having experienced and witnessed his fair share of street life, his mission centers on reducing the violence that shadows the genre, “Erryday.” Now based in Nashville, he’s been working tirelessly to build a buzz founded on honesty, integrity, and honor from the ground up, all while honing his distinctive Trap Disco sound—a fusion of streetwise sentiments and dance-ready melodies that inspire listeners from all walks of life to get moving. With stars in his eyes, unshakable confidence, and a clear vision, he takes pride in how far he’s come and knows there’s a bright future ahead. Backed by one of the sharpest minds in rap, Erryday Entertainment has evolved from a label into a full-fledged movement—with the current one-two punch singles Problems and the solution Icky, with the third song in the trilogy and title track from the album “Fly Awaaay” slated for release later this year.

“Icky” is an intoxicating stoner anthem that moves light on its feet, a hypnotic “summer jam” that arrived a few months early. It first simmers with the tropical warmth of reggae before bursting into an instantly grooveable trap cut. Whether smoking is their thing or not, listeners can’t help but wish they were stretched out on a blanket on the beach, soaking in the salty air, sizzling sun, and wispy vapors of a certain mellowing formula. The stripped-back instrumentation—thick, rubbery 808s, dry, crispy snares, and just enough space—lets each bar float over the melody, and RockRackz lands every line with laid-back precision. With his unmistakable mix of confidence and allure, “Icky” just keeps bouncing, mesmerizing listeners as he leans back and celebrates his tenacity, spirit, and steady rise toward recognition.

The accompanying visual short film opens with the chime of a doorbell, a cue for a hungry patron to greet a pair of giggling “Icky Eats” delivery drivers, a service where, let’s just say, the food isn’t the only thing baked. Barely holding it together, they hand off a tattered bag and shuffle away, dissolving to RockRackz sparking up a treat of his own. Whether he’s gaming with friends, manning a food truck stocked with “Icky Burgers” and “Icky Sweets,” or lounging on its rooftop, a genuine sense of fulfillment follows him everywhere. Here, the world revolves around RockRackz, and every shot shows him exactly as he is. He commands attention without ever having to ask for it, offering viewers a hit of his best stuff—an exciting glimpse into his growing creativity, conviction, and undeniable star power. Even if half that delivery order mysteriously vanished.

You’ve come a long way from East Saint Louis and Madison to Nashville—how do those early days still influence the way you live and create?

Actually, it’s a testament to the imagination. When you learn to imagine yourself out of a bad situation, then you learn to imagine yourself in a better situation. It seems we forget this sometimes.

You’ve said you look for reasons to be inspired every day. What keeps that fire lit for you right now?

The keyword is “Erryday”. When you are signed to a company called Erryday Entertainment, accountability is important. Erryday you are inspired, and you are inspiring to inspire others. We live that, Erryday!

How did the experience of joining the Army out of High School shape me both personally and musically? You made the choice to join the Army after high school. How did that experience shape you, both personally and musically?

You come to a place in life where you have to make your own decisions, and the decision to join the army at that point was huge in establishing personal independence. That same independence influences business decisions as an independent artist and business owner.

Your Trap Disco sound blends street stories with something people can dance to. What made you want to bring those two worlds together?

Some things just come naturally. Trap itself came into existence as a sub-genre of rap, and the disco fever seems to be still going around.

“Icky” has that smooth reggae feel before it slides into a trap bounce. What sparked that record, and why was it the right fit for this trilogy?

The “Icky” sparked the song Icky. That’s what can happen when you spark the Icky!!! Icky is the middle course in the Trilogy, standing between two extremes. One extreme is Problems and the opposite extreme is Fly Awaayyy. Icky is the solution to Problems, and like Calgon, the Icky will help you Fly Awaayyy from your Problems.

The “Icky Eats” video concept is creative and funny at the same time. How did that idea come about, and what was your favorite part of filming it?

“Icky Eats” is a line of snack cakes Erryday Entertainment will be bringing to market soon. Where there is Icky, there will be munchies. When you work with friends, especially those who are not necessarily actors, inspiring them to be involved is very fulfilling.

You’ve been open about wanting to reduce violence in the culture. How do you stay honest about your past while pushing something more positive?

A friend of mine told me a “Bright Insight” that says, “Your past is behind you, leave it there!” Plus, every adversity brings with it the equivalent seed of success, according to Napoleon Hill nim. If you’ve experienced adversity, you ought to be positive about the success that awaits you.

Erryday Entertainment has grown into more than just a label. What does that movement mean to you?

The main reason to be in business, music, or otherwise, is to provide for your loved ones. The movement/culture of Erryday Entertainment is about achieving and behaving for success…Erryday!

With “Problems,” “Icky,” and “Fly Awaaay” connected, what story are you telling across these songs?

The universal story of “Problems”, because everybody’s got’em. And to educate the masses that “Icky (herb) does for the mind what herbs do for the food.” And then you’re set to Fly Awaayyy to imagine yourself in a better situation.

Before we wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with the fans?

Yes. You don’t know how much it means to thank the fans until you actually feel the effects and support of the fans. Thank you so very much to all the fans for the support and for enjoying Erryday Entertainment products. Much appreciated!
