OWN Renews ‘Put a Ring on It: Cheathab’ for Two Seasons

The relationship series will return with 16 additional episodes in 2027 as its first season approaches a Sept. 25 finale.

OWN has renewed “Put a Ring on It: Cheathab” for two more seasons, ordering 16 additional episodes of the unscripted series about long-term couples confronting infidelity. Production will begin this fall, with the new episodes scheduled to air in 2027.

The network announced the renewal Sept. 18, one week before the first-season finale. The series airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with “The Final Decision” set for Sept. 25.

Produced by Will Packer Media and Blink49 Studios, “Cheathab” expands the “Put a Ring on It” franchise by placing couples in a shared house where they examine betrayal, confront unresolved questions, and decide whether to marry or end their relationships.

A New Direction for the Relationship Franchise

OWN President Tina Perry said the series’ approach gave the franchise another way to explore commitment and the work of rebuilding trust.

“Put a Ring on It connected with audiences through its honest and heartfelt exploration of love and commitment. But with Put a Ring on It: Cheathab, we found a fresh new way into that conversation. This season brought an urgency and unpredictability that reinvigorated the franchise while staying true to its core themes of trust, healing, and second chances. We’re thrilled that it resonated strongly with viewers, proving that there is still so much to explore within this franchise.”

Since its July 31 premiere, “Cheathab” has averaged a 1.49 live-plus-three-day rating among African American women ages 25-54, according to OWN.

The network also reports that the current season ranks second among original unscripted cable series on Friday nights with that audience, behind OWN’s “Belle Collective.”

Inside the ‘Cheathab House’

The series follows couples whose relationships have been disrupted by infidelity as they move into the “Cheathab House” under the guidance of relationship coach Dr. Stacii Jae Johnson.

Their participation includes dating other people, among them former flings and past love interests who have threatened their relationships. Those encounters bring jealousy, unresolved feelings and questions about accountability into the open.

Johnson guides the couples through dates and workshops focused on intimacy and trust. Each pair must ultimately decide whether to move toward marriage or walk away.

A Spelman College graduate who also holds a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, Johnson is an author and the founder of I Want a Good Man University. On the show, her work centers on helping participants examine their behavior and the choices shaping their relationships.

Final Episodes Put Marriage Decisions in Focus

The season’s remaining episodes move the couples closer to their decisions, with dates, counseling and wedding preparations bringing lingering concerns to the surface.

“For Love or Money?” — Sept. 18

Airing at 8 p.m. ET/PT, the episode follows the couples on dates with their partners before they make their final decisions about marriage. One man promises a major change, while another faces an ultimatum that could unravel his relationship.

“The Final Decision” — Sept. 25

The season finale airs at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Counseling reveals doubts as the couples shop for rings and gowns, forcing each pair to consider whether the relationship is ready for marriage.

With two additional seasons ordered, OWN will continue exploring those questions when “Put a Ring on It: Cheathab” returns in 2027.
