As the world continues to embrace the tech evolution, Wendy Williams is increasing her digital dominance! Recently, the Emmy nominated talk show host and 2009 National Radio Hall of Fame inductee, announced the launch of her latest advance into the digital space with a new lifestyle and entertainment app Wendy Digital. Now her millions of fans, viewers, and supporters can get the same star-quality content that they watch on their TV, directly on their cell phones. According to the official lineWendy Digital will feature daily celebrity ‘Hot Topics’ where users can chime in on the show’s discussion, and catch behind-the-scenes footage of Wendy ‘on the go,’ including never-before-seen celebrity interviews and video content through ‘Suddenly Wendy’. Entertainment and celebrity knowledge will be tested and rewarded through the app’s ‘E-Trivia’ section. The app also features a ‘Shopping’ section, making it easy for users to browse and purchase Wendy’s outfit of the day, her latest HSN Collection, along with her favorite product recommendations.

Williams has pretty much tackled it all and has successfully leveraged her platform to expand her brand in a number of avenues; Radio, Television, Film Production, fashion, book publishing, creating a foundation to affect change in the community, and now the tech world. The Hype Magazine Editor-at-Large Valerie Victor sat down with the Hall of Famer during her Atlanta run, to discuss her latest deployment in the ‘digital revolution’ as well as weighing in on her experience as she’s navigated the maze of entertainment and business.

On launching “Wendy Digital” in Atlanta

The event was really successful, the thing about the event was it specifically invite only, and so we knew the people who were there are into tech or interested in engaging with people who have a voice in Tech. The event was only two hours so the whole thing was pretty good. There was no chance to get bored, from stepping off the elevator and seeing giant Wenmojis posters. Then I’m looking over at the food and I see my face on RiceKrispies treats and a whole spread of good food that people are eating. They made a “How You Doin'” drink [A popular Williams’ catch-phrase], people were having a good time and it was a crowd of very eclectic people. So it was very successful and hopefully, some good business will come out of it.

A funny aside from the interview was Wendy talking about the amazing southern hospitality and the observation that folks in “The A” hug a lot!

How might the Wendy Digital community use the new resource?

Williams explains, An example of that would be, say you wanted to start a handbag line and you’re not exactly sure how to do it but you have my Wendy Digital App and you can see the various people and countries I talk to and the more you can meet and interact with each other, as well as the hub of it all, is information I put out as well as my team of reporters for “Hot Topics” and my experts.

The official rundown is that the app aims to provide a fun content-rich entertainment experience that indulges users with a daily dose of pop culture. Part the fun on Wendy Digital, is her own line of emoticons, WenMoji, a set of her widely known catchphrases, including her popular ‘How you Doin’.

What does Wendy love about her show?

A part of what I love about my show, is the connection I have with my audience and fans, whether it be in the studio, or while they’re watching at home,” said Wendy Williams. “Now through my app, I have a brand new platform where I can continue to engage with my fans, and be able to share more behind-the-scenes intel into my life outside of the show.”

More on the amazing Wendy Williams

Wendy Williams is a media mogul, actress, comedian, entrepreneur, designer, and New York Times best-selling author, who is best known for her long-running Daytime Emmy® nominated talk show, “The Wendy Williams Show.” Prior to achieving success in daytime television, Wendy built a devoted fan base throughout a successful 23-year career in radio, with, “The Wendy Williams Experience,” being a top-rated daily radio show. Syndicated nationally, it aired on WBLS in New York and was listened to by an audience of more than 12 million people. One of the most popular personalities in radio, Wendy was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in November of 2009 – one of only a handful of women with that honor. In addition to her talk show, Williams also created her own production company, Wendy Williams Productions, which creates both scripted and reality programming. Furthermore, Williams has designed multiple clothing lines for HSN, and also devotes much of her time to The Hunter Foundation, an organization she founded with her husband, which works with charities to improve the lives of children and their families across the country.

There is so much more to be said about Williams and her solid works as well as what she means to Women as an example of not taking the BS or allowing themselves to be misused and abused to make their mark in this world. For that matter, Wendy is also an example for men who want that go-getter that ride-or-die. For that reason, I nominate Wendy Williams for the “Everything Possible” award! ~ JD Editor-in-Chief
