0Lil Durk – Cross Roads
The Single:
Making his mark with melodic rap music, Lil Durk always wears his heart on his sleeve. On “Cross Roads,” his latest single, Durk struggles to succumb to his emotions, mourning his lost friends and contemplating his own mortality. Channeling the famous chorus from Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s ’90s classic “Tha Crossroads,” Durk delves deep within himself, declaring his love for his daughters and shouting out the recently departed Fredo Santana. “Cross Roads” is Durk’s fourth new single of 2018, most immediately following “Durkio Krazy,” a low-key trap anthem produced by DY of 808 Mafia. With over 1 million combined views on YouTube, “Durkio Krazy” is the first single from the upcoming Durkio Krazy project, produced in full by DY.
“Bone Thugs is one of my favorite rap groups of all time,” says Lil Durk. “I listened to them all the time when I was a kid. They’re a major influence on my music and one of the reasons I started rapping in the first place. ‘Cross Roads’ is a homage to them, as well as to the important people I’ve lost recently.”
After a busy 2017, Durk looks to sustain his momentum throughout another great year. Earlier this year, Durk shared “1-(773) Vulture,” a street twist on Logic’s smash hit “1-800-273-8255,” with a powerful video dedicated to the late Fredo Santana. The remix followed Durk’s “India” video, dedicated to his girlfriend India Royale, a track from October’s Signed to the Streets 2.5, one of Durk’s four projects in 2017. The OTF spitter turned heads in December with Bloodas, an album-length collaboration with Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley. Earlier in 2017, Durk teamed up with fellow Drill movement rapper Lil Reese for their Supa Vultures EP. 2017 also cemented Durk as one of Hip-Hop’s most prolific collaborators, appearing on Young Thug’s EBBTG, Trae Tha Truth’s Tha Truth 3, Mozzy’s 1 Up Top Ahk, and Ralo x Gucci Mane’s Ralo LaFlare. Fans can stay tuned for Durkio Krazy and Signed To The Streets 3, slated to release this year.
