Android No. 23 “Adverse” EP
Last month Maryland’s Android No. 23 brought us the five-track EP “Adverse”. Putting together five songs may not be a challenge for some, but this is a project that almost didn’t see the light of day. Diagnosed with sickle cell as a child, Android actually spent some time in the hospital during the creation of this project.
The Maryland standout is a talented emcee, however, one should not overlook his ability to produce as he had a hand in the majority of the production on this. This is made even more impressive considering that each track on “Adverse” truly captures a different vibe and energy. From the hazy yet lead single “Fair Trade” featuring Vlad to the booming and energetic closer “I-95”, Android No. 23 can swerve in multiple lanes with competence and consistency. “In The Shadows” has our hero going deeper into the emotions, he felt while in the hospital. “Adverse” is a project we almost never got. Here we are listening to the fruits of an artist attacking life head-on, with the talent to go far. Let’s hope we get a full LP from Android No. 23.
