EXCLUSIVE album premiere from alt-soul/R&B Trevor James (Feat. on AfroPunk, Soulbounce, Bass Quarterly

R&B funk bassist/guitarist Trevor James announces his album, Maxine, due out July 13, 2018. Afropunk calls James a “bright ray of light.” Check out his recent killer set on Jam in the Van to get a feel for his style.

Trevor James’ music draws inspiration from rock & roll eras gone by, when bands didn’t rely on stage antics or glitzy production – just pure talent and sweat.

James grew up in Los Angeles, surrounded by a community of like-minded musicians who encouraged and supported his own interest in music. Becoming involved in his local scene from a young age, all-night jam sessions with his best friends soon turned into local gigs, and the time eventually came for Trevor to break off as a solo act.

Most recently, Trevor has been featured in Germany’s Bass Quarterly and released 3 albums – 2017’s My Train and 2016’s jazz fusion releases World and The Dreamer.

QUOTE from Trevor James:

“The start of these album took place in December of 2017. I had taken a trip to Boston in November and got a little inspiration after not writing anything fresh for about 6 months. So middle of December I started writing. The start of January everything musically started flowing and I was back in my groove. I would say half of the songs I wrote are true story’s or inspired by true story’s. I wanted a feel good album that could reach out to everybody’s feelings.

The name of the album “Maxine” was inspired by the title track off of my album. I based every song off of a crazy rollercoaster of a relationship. I wanted to try to make every song relatable to your everyday music listener.

I wanted to keep this album current but have a little Jimi Hendrix old school R&B vibe to it as well with solid grooves and something you can bop your head to.

I wrote produced played and mixed everything you hear on the album.
I hope everyone that listens to this album can relate and vibe out and create there own memory’s with these songs. ”
