HELGA – Battle Song

Swedish artist Helga has released new track ‘Battle Song’. Writing from the confines of her cabin in the forests of Dalarna has given her music a unique sense of introspection.

Drawing upon a wide range of influences, ‘Battle Song’s pounding tribal drums are juxtaposed with mournful vocals and washes of guitar noise – with its roots as much in black metal as modern pop.

Helga’s music reflects on nature in a time when the environment is at more under threat to humanity than ever. She tells us “Nature for me is something magical and spiritual. It gives me a stronger sense of self and a feeling of unity and calm. I have a hard time writing songs about people and end up writing about nature, introspection and other-worldly stuff instead.”
