Abby Jasmine – TRAP MOM

A world-class sh*t-talker with an Instagram cult that trounces your favorite rappers’, Staten Island-native Abby Jasmine is the perfect new star for the social media age. Coming through with an accomplished and confident 7-tracker, Abby shares Trap Mom, her debut project, premiered by PAPER Mag alongside a Q&A. Well-versed in the art of flexing, Abby delivers biting punchlines with lilting melodies, acid dripping from her velvet-voiced rhymes: “I just might go out to France/I might buy your man a Benz/Tell that hoe, why u mad?” she chants on project highlight “Why U Mad.” On Trap Mom, the artist creates a vibrant sonic world, packed with wavy, reverb-drenched productions and defined by Abby’s empowering sense-of-self, providing a distinctly-female counter to the all-too-masculine world of trap music. Featuring lead singles “Message,” which has over 200k plays on Spotify, and “Tags,” which features an appearance from LevyGrey, Trap Mom arrives via Cinematic Music Group.

Parlaying a popular Vine account into a massive 385k Instagram following, Abby Jasmine’s magnetic personality shines through in her music as brightly as it does on social media. Last week, Abby shared the neon-lit video for “Tags,” premiered by Highsnobiety. Abby reaches boss status in the video, running an all-female criminal organization and racing vintage cars from the 1950s. Praised by LadyGunn, who said the song reached “a level of music badassery that Rihanna would approve,” “Tags” is an organ-drenched and eerie track for the late hours of the club, and a succinct summation of what makes Abby special.
