Geron – Tainted

Contemporary R&B/Soul artist Geron releases new 6 song EP, Tainted. Through these tracks, Geron beautifully constructs a trip through the emotional ups and downs of her past relationships and how they have changed the way she thinks about love. Tainted opens with a brief intro which beautifully showcases Geron’s impressive vocal range.
The intro leads into two upbeat tracks, “TBH” and “Plans”. In “TBH”, Geron speaks out against anyone who’s “been faking since [she] made it”, and declares that they can say what they want to about her as they “ain’t got nothing to do with me”.

The track, “Plans”, follows and, while continuing with the upbeat sound of before, adds a smoother, more traditional R&B beat. The beat of the track mixes well with Geron’s topic of love and relationships. The 4th track, “Love Again”, truly displays Geron’s range and musical variation by slowing the down the beat further and keeping the instrumentation subtle to showcase her lyrics and vocal abilities.

The last two tracks combine to make an empowering and liberating finale. “Don’t Worry”, the fifth song, has an infectious pulse with lyrics that encourage self-confidence. The final track, “Don’t Need U”, further drives home the message of the previous song, adding onto it self-ownership and self-liberation with lyrics such as “I don’t need distractions, I been single, baby, I’ve been living lavish”.

Geron’s musical style falls somewhere between the genres of Pop, Alternative, R&B, and Hip-Hop. Her voice holds a unique, soulful quality that lends itself to mastering and morphing multiple genres. She is influenced by several powerful female soul singers, including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Christina Aguilera.

Geron will be performing these new tracks on February 13th at 7:00 during her EP Release Concert for Tainted. The concert, presented by MajorStage, will be held at Sound of Brazil venue.
