Gladys Knight Takes Over South Florida for One Night

Seven-time Grammy® Award-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Gladys Knight serenaded a crowd of fans in the filled-to-capacity Au-Rene Theater in Fort Lauderdale late January.

The Empress of Soul started her 75 minute energy-packed show with her hit songs “I’ve Got to Use My Imagination” and “Love Overboard.” From showcasing her entertaining storytelling skills to joking back and forth with the crowd, Gladys Knight reminded the captivated audience exactly why and how she has reigned as one of this generation’s most soulful musical legends.

She told laugh out loud stories about the good ol’ Motown days with Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye and cried real tears when she sang “The Way We Were, Try to Remember.” Throughout the theatre, concert-goers could be heard singing along to some of Gladys Knight’s most popular hits.

With over 38 albums recorded, Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame and BET, and her recent 2014 release “Where My Heart Belongs,” Gladys Knight still remains at the top of her game and is not allowing anything to stand in her way
