Ozuna Makes History by Earning Record-Breaking 23 Finalist Mentions at the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards

OZUNA, the global music icon received a record-breaking 23 finalist mentions at the upcoming 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards. The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter has become the artist with the most finalist mentions in one single year of the prestigious awards ceremony.

After taking home the trophy for “Artist of the Year” at the 2018 edition of the awards gala, Ozuna returns to the same stage, with solid career achievements that led him to become a global icon of music for the new generation. Notably, the artist recently surpassed Justin Bieber as 7 of his music videos have joined YouTube’s Billion Views Club on YouTube;  he was also named YouTube’s most viewed artist of 2018, regardless of music genre and language.

Ozuna earned 23 finalist mentions thanks to the resounding success of the songs from his albums “ODISEA” and “AURA”, both productions were released under the independent label DIMELO VI and distributed by Sony Music Latin. Also, with his collaboration in the anthem “Te Boté”, and of course, the single that revolutionized Spotify, all digital platforms and brought together three different cultures in the same melody: “Taki Taki”, a song that opened the eyes of the world to the artistic quality of this young singer with Dominican-Puerto Rican roots.

Ozuna could win a maximum of 15 awards because in 8 categories his albums or songs compete against each other.  Here is the list of the 23 finalist mentions he received:

  • Top Latin Album of the Year – Aura

  • Top Latin Album of the Year – Odisea

  • Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Male

  • Latin Pop Song of the Year “Me Niego”

  • Tropical Song of the Year “Sobredosis”

  • Latin Rhythm Song of the Year “Te Boté”

  • Latin Rhythm Song of the Year “Me Niego”

  • Latin Rhythm Album of the Year – Aura

  • Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year, Solo

The 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards will be televised from Las Vegas, Nevada by Telemundo on Thursday, April 25.
