Pop Sensation Sigrid Performs in Hollywood for the Release of Her New Album ‘Sucker Punch’ on Island Records
Norwegian pop star Sigrid performed a private STRIPPED DOWN set at Madame Sian in Hollywood, CA. The 22-year-old performed the energetic “Strangers,” and zeitgeist defining “Don’t Kill My Vibe” which catapulted Sigrid into the public consciousness last year. Also on her set list was ‘Dynamite,’ and title single ‘Sucker Punch’ from her up-coming album Sucker Punch, due out March 8, 2019, on Island Records. The Hype Magazine was there to capture clips of the exclusive performance.
The pop prodigy will kick off 2019 with a headlining NYC show at Brooklyn Steel on February 20th as well as supporting both George Ezra in March on his mammoth arena tour, and Maroon 5 in June across the UK and Europe. Over the last two years, Sigrid received a VMA nomination for “MTV Push Artist of the Year,” and won the BBC Sound of 2018. She is storming the stage at Panorama and Coachella this year, selling out shows in both NYC and LA, and performing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Sigrid’s live performances have sparked mass appreciation and defiant, rebellious pop songs.
With her Spotify following tripling since the start of the year, and streaming numbers reaching almost 500M globally, the Norwegian sensation is undoubtedly set to continue her ascent with non-conformist and progressive attitudes to the femininity in the pop landscape. The 22-year-old’s epic songs are tales of the unexpected; fearless musical collages and shout-outs to human resilience, “There’s a romantic melancholy in the landscape,” says Sigrid. “And there’s a certain grace to heartache, a sort of…epic grace! I love dramatic pop songs,” which is the foundation of Sigrid’s extraordinary debut Sucker Punch.
