GRAMMY-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle and his life partner, actress Lauren London, are the subjects of a brilliant feature story by the talented Mark Anthony Green for the March issue of GQ Magazine on stands now.

Here’s the official line on the story:

For the March issue of GQ, Mark Anthony Green sat down with actress Lauren London and rapper Nipsey Hussle to discuss the struggles of finding fame and success while making a relationship work.

Nipsey Hussle has been releasing music for decades. He put out more than ten mixtapes in a decade. One of these mixtapes, in 2013, led to him meeting actress Lauren London. At the time she was on hit BET show “The Game”, and wanted to get the mixtape as a gift to her fellow castmates. The mixtapes were limited edition (only 1,000 produced) and retailed for $100 each. As with many modern romances, an Instagram DM about merchandise led to a ‘follow’ and five years and a son later, here they are, supporting each other daily.

After all the mixtapes, Nipsey—who counts a crypto-currency business, a co-working space, a STEM program for inner-city kids, a fish shop, a barbershop, and a clothing store amongst his diversified portfolio—debuted his first studio album, which was nominated for a Grammy. “The artist part of me always wants to be appreciated,” he says. “I read every review. But I never wanted to seek validation by awards or anything controlled by politics.”

For London, her career has had many ups and downs. She was a scene stealer in her debut film, ATL, and was loved on The Game. Still, her career hasn’t yet popped like she’d hoped, and she declined a potentially life-changing role after getting pregnant with the couple’s son, Kross. “I [chose] my soul,” she says.
