Future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki has been a fixture in the city of Dallas for the past 21 seasons. He has not officially announced that this will be his final season. So, until he makes an official announcement, we have to wait and see.  In a recent interview with ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, Nowitzki shared that he would love to be there for the young guys.

“I’d love to be there for the young guys one more year, but I think it depends on how the body feels,” said the 14-time All-Star. He would continue:

“I’ve had some issues, obviously, this year. I had some knee swelling here the last few weeks, actually before the All-Star break, so it’s not all great. But like I said, I am feeling better. I am feeling a little stronger.

“I think I’m going to make that decision later on.”

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban earlier this month was a guest on the Ben & Skin show on 105 The Fan and was asked if it feels like a goodbye tour for Dirk. In which Cuban replied, “It is.”

“We haven’t discussed it. He’s trying to decide if he’s going to take some time off or not,” Cuban said.“But he can do whatever he wants. He’s earned it. I don’t care. Whatever he wants to do, Dirk can do … the answer’s yes.”

Dirk said during his media day during All-Star Weekend that he envisions himself being a part of the game of Basketball in some fashion.

“At some point, after spending a lot of time with his family, he’ll get back to doing something basketball-related,“ said via Alex Kennedy Twitter account.

Well, I spoke to Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban earlier this season about the possibility of Dirk Nowitzki owning a piece of the Mavericks if he was interested.

Mark replied “Such.“

Following the Mavericks recent 110-101 win against the Pacers, I asked Nowitzki if he would be interested in possibly owning a piece of the team.

“It is an honor that he said that, I want to focus on me still playing, and whatever I decided to do after my career. We will cross that bridge when we get there,” Nowitzki told me.

Mavs are back at on Saturday at home against the Grizzlies.
