Dublin’s AikJ Drops New Single – “Break it Off”

Dublin-based alt-pop/R&B artist AikJ has dropped “Break it Off”, the first single from upcoming debut EP, 1992. In the track, AikJ tries to win over a lover from her current relationship, insisting “I just want the best for you; I know you’ve been thinking about the same damn thing, too.” The song is a slick amalgamation of soulful alt-pop and R&B, with emotive vocals to match. The laid-back instrumental, deep bass, and a beat that won’t quit, come together to form a hypnotic track that’s a perfect fit for any “chill-out” playlist.

Having been born in Nigeria and raised in Dublin, AikJ has a distinct cultural background that inspires the unique flair of his music. He explains, “music has always been around me, from church to the Afro-beats music culture in Nigeria, to watching MTV when new songs come out. Being exposed to all these cultures and styles of music expanded my creativity and taste in sound.”  AikJ’s talents have not gone unnoticed as the artist was featured by Red Bull Music who included him in their “7 of the most lit acts in Irish hip-hop right now”.

“Break it Off” is AikJ’s first musical release since 2017, when he released his singles “Hidden Agenda” and “Heights”. These, along with his 2016 debut single, “Suite Life” are available for streaming and download now. He continues to use his talents to propel the music of Irish artists into the mainstream.
