Dakota’s “No One” is the Electro-Pop Fix We’ve Been Missing

Coming right off of American Idol, Dakota is keeping her momentum with the release of her debut single, “No One.” An enticing mix of chilled house synths, R&B percussion and a strong vocal delivery, Dakota shows her potential through her dexterity.

“No One” represents what the future of pop holds, nostalgic while still being cutting edge in its production. With lyrics reminding you of your favorite 90’s R&B girl groups, her Ariana Grande-esque vocal runs, to the fun electronic production, Dakota’s debut is filled with the best elements of the past three decades.

Spunky, irreverent all while maintaining a groovy rhythm, Dakota calls out any man who expects that she’ll fall for them instantly. The song is a perfect tell off, showing her independence. Choosing “No One” as her debut is decidedly intelligent, a message that parallels her independence as she begins a serious pop career. Dakota has been working for years for this moment and doesn’t need anyone else to make it there; she can do it on her own.

While just her debut, “No One” has sparked our attention; Dakota is definitely someone to look out for in her future releases.
