0Premiere: The Oddysy – Bang Bang (Ft. Chuck D of Public Enemy)
Chuck D lends his iconic voice to The Oddysy’s new single “BANG BANG”
BANG BANG, the funky, hip-hop fusion, 90’s throwback first single off THE ODDYSY’s debut album YOU MUST BE JUST DON’T KNOW WHO I IS, features a verse from the one-and-only CHUCK D of PUBLIC ENEMY and, true-to-form, it has a powerful message.
Despite the title BANG BANG, this anthem is decidedly anti-violence. With lyrics like “I won’t give my holy land to the old white man, king of the Bang Bang”, The Oddysy is calling out the classist systems that perpetrate racism, violence, and separatism.
“I actually wrote these lyrics based on a post that Chuck sent out on his social media about Dr. Martin Luther King. Juice had just sent over this intense beat and in that moment, I suddenly felt we had the perfect subject for this track” – KJ

The New York-based duo has its roots in jazz and hip hop. Lead singer and bassist, The Royal KJ, got his start in the jazz scene before touring with pop darlings Cecilia. The Oddysy was formed when he linked up with Rock N Roll Hall-Of-Famer, DJ Johnny Juice. The prolific turntablist of Public Enemy lends his legendary skills plus vocals and synths. This genre-bending odd couple has been compared to The Gorillaz, Chromeo, DJ Premiere, and Beck.
Their 15-track album blends jazz, rock, soul, electronica, and hip hop. It also features legends like Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run DMC) Dinco D & Charlie Brown (Leaders of the New School), Garrett Shider (Parliament / George Clinton) and NYOIL (Kool Kim). Fans will be pleased to know the album is set to drop this summer along with an international tour.
The video for BANG BANG will be directed by Ato Essandoh (The Code, Chicago Med) and also features Chuck D. It’s currently in pre-production.
