Rod Hamdallah – Think About It

Hound Gawd! Records is proud to announce that Rod Hamdallah’s debut titled, Think About It, will be pressed to vinyl for the first time. The record is a wailing garage-rock stomper. Rod Hamdallah has toured the world playing guitar with J.D. Wilkes and the Legendary Shack Shakers and also manned guitar for J.D. Wilkes and The Dirt Daubers. The second track on the album, “Carry You Home,” a bluesy western tune, features Colonel J.D. Wilkes on both banjo and Wurlitzer piano and the album cover was created for Hamdallah by J.D. Wilkes.

“This album is about heartache, losing love/finding love again, and finding yourself,” Rod Hamdallah explains. “It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life (writing these songs and releasing them).” Asked how the material translates live he enthuses “The songs are definitely different live than on the record! I grew up playing live music for a living, so I feel like I give so much more in a live setting. I feel more like myself when I’m playing live music, when I’m up on stage.” Think About It bursts with soulful garage rock, punk and blues and will delight fans of The Sonics, Black Lips, King Khan and of course the Legendary Shack Shakers. “An Atlanta guitar slinger with a swooping pompadour, Rod Hamdallah has swiftly risen through the ranks of Atlanta’s die-hard music scene…With a blend of delta blues, electric roots and garage rock girth, Hamdallah has tricked out a sultry sound and presence that’s recharging the blues and garage rock,” Creative Loafing wrote in the article naming Hamdallah Atlanta’s BEST LOCAL BLUES ACT. The Orlando Weekly concluded that Hamdallah has “the same kind of jacked neo-traditionalist blood that juices the Black Keys and Hanni El Khatib.”

Musicians on the album are Rod Hamdallah on vocals, guitars and toy piano; Gabriel Pline on drums and percussion; Adam Holliday on Hammond organ, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer piano and accordion. The current live line up includes Rod Hamdallah, Shane Pringle on bass guitar and saxophone and Jordan Manley on drums. Hamdallah’s influences include Flat Duo Jets, Captain Beefheart and the Black Keys. He’s shared the stage with acts like Jack White, Dexter Romweber, Sean Costello, and the Black Lips.
