Step Up: High Water’s Terayle Hill Shines on the Gripping Narrative “Marquise’s Interlude”

Combining compelling drama with thrilling music and electric performance scenes, YouTube/Lionsgate series Step Up: High Water is a unique experience. Showcasing the talents of castmember Terayle HillStep Up shares the lyric video for Marquise’s Interlude,” the latest snippet from Step Up: High Water, Season 2 (Original Soundtrack). Written and performed by Hill, “Marquise’s Interlude” is a gripping narrative, delving deep into the backstory of Marquise, Hill’s character, as he relates his life’s story, focusing on his rough upbringing on the streets, interspersed with witty boasts about his talent. In the series, the rhyme is delivered through a prison phone by Marquise to King, a producer portrayed by Eric Graise, as a last ditch attempt to prove his talent and rap his way out of jail. With a lyric video that fires words at the screen as fast as Hill can rap them, “Marquise’s Interlude” demonstrates Step Up: High Water‘s ability to coax deep emotion out of its characters’ checkered pasts.

With musical direction and production from Timbaland and musical supervision from EMMY-award nominee Jen Malone (Atlanta), Step Up: High Water, Season 2 (Original Soundtrack) is diverse and dramatic, providing an important element to the series with songs that work equally well in and out of context. Highlights from the soundtrack include the triumphant trap banger “Take The Throne,” performed by High Water lead actor Terrence Greene, the soaring and sultry duet “Animal,” and Genesis,” the Billboard-premiered lead single written and performed by Ne-Yo, writing and singing in character as Sage Odom, the director of High Water Performing Arts School and a former pop star trying to execute a comeback. With two additional songs from Ne-Yo, and composition and production from Timbaland and producer Matthew Head, the soundtrack is available everywhere via YouTube/Lionsgate Music.

Based on the successful film franchise from Lionsgate, which has grossed $650 million at the global box office, Step Up: High Water follows several students at a cutthroat performing arts school in Atlanta. Series regulars Ne-YoNaya Rivera, and Faizon Love return for a second season, joining newcomers Ashley GreeneRobin Givens and Jeremy Copeland. In the second season, multi-platinum recording artist and entrepreneur Rick Ross guest stars as himself, as does Todrick Hall and choreographer JaQuel Knight.
