“1 Accord” is a gospel band based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. This anointed ensemble is serving God and using their talents to spread the good news around the world with a fresh new sound.
They’ve officially released their long-awaited, brand new Single, “Psalms 100 (Millennia Praise)”, featuring Klaiton Johnson on iTunes, Amazon, and all other digital platforms. We had the pleasure of interviewing some of the members of the group. Check it out below….
How long has 1 Accord been in existence?
We have been together for just under 1 year officially.
Who inspires you as a group?
Our inspiration stems from the love we have for God first and foremost, but I think when we look at where we’ve all been in life and the personal battles we continue to face, I believe the obvious choice would be each other. We keep “us” inspired.
How did you come up with the name, “1 Accord”?
That question always comes up. But the easiest answer would be, we were looking for something that we can all share, if that makes any sense. Many times you’ll find groups with names that don’t really reflect what the group is about. We didn’t just want to be another name that sounded cool, or looked good on the flyer. What we were looking for was something that reflected who we were and so the word 1 Accord for us just simply meant “a group of people working in one direction, for one common purpose, serving one God.
Where did the group originate from? How’d you all meet?
This group is based in Vegas. It was formed in Vegas. The funny thing is the group was only supposed to be something temporary. None of us actually thought when we started down this road that we would be here currently. We’ve had several people come into the group, but most of it was short-lived. The folks that are now part of 1 Accord also the bigger picture. We knew that hard work and dedication was the only way this group was going to survive and it would take time. Time for us to learn each other, time for us to build a friendship, time for us to learn each other’s flaws and see each other for the best that we are.
Are you all working on any new music?
Yes, we are. We currently have a new single now called “Everything About You”, which I might see is one of the best worship songs I’ve heard in a very long time. We also have a song that we are releasing and July featuring Bishop Cortez Vaughn. This one we are especially humbled to be blessed with a man of his talent and stature. Many new artists aren’t fortunate enough to have these type of features, but God has certainly blessed us in ways that we will never understand. We’re also embarking on our summer tour to promote the upcoming album entitled “UpwardBound”.
If you all could record with any artist, who would you choose? Why?
Wow, that’s a really hard question. I think if you ask any of the six members of this group we will have a different answer. Some of us might say Smokie Norful, some of us might say the Walls Group, some of us may say Deitrick Haddon. But my personal favorite is Fred Hammond & Marvin Winans. Most of us in this group grew up listening to Commissioned & the Winans Family. As a child, I think I memorized every word to every song and to this day still my all-time greatest groups. So selfishly I would say Fred Hammond and or Marvin Winans. Too hard to pick one.
What, or Who keeps you guys motivated in wanting to keep going?
I think we are a self-motivated group. For most of us that have been in the music industry for a very long time, we understand the dedication is needed for perseverance. We also understand that nothing worth fighting for ever comes easy. Keeping ourselves accountable remembering that everything we do there’s a greater purpose behind it. I think once you understand that it’s very easy to stay grounded and keep yourself moving in an upward direction.
Do you guys have a hard time trying to find decent food while out on the road?
No not really we kind of eat anything which is probably bad. Some of us are fast food junkies which helps especially being out on the road. But we try to balance it as much as we can. Lol..One day hopefully will be able to have a personal chef.
Is it hard balancing work life, family, and music?
Balancing Work & family can be challenging. You know as musicians were always in that creative state, or at least we try to be. All of us have families so that’s a plus because we understand the plight that in front of us. Is it hard for you guys to balance relationships in this industry? In terms of balancing relationships in the industry, we’ve been fortunate that most of the people that we’ve met and built relationships with over the years have been solid relationships. Everyone has been super supportive and willing to work with “1 Accord” in any area that we need their help. Even though we are still fairly a new group, none of us are new to this music industry and so collectively using our connections has really been a blessing.
What keeps you strong in faith?
Prayer, Prayer & more Prayer! Nothing that we do we assume is going to keep us grounded but staying on our knees. It sounds very cliché, but when you think about it, it is a very far-fetched.
What’s your go-to Scripture(s)?
Matthew 19:26 But Jesus be held them, and set onto them, with man this is impossible; but with God all things are possible
What’s next for the group?
Our focus right now is the 6 city tour that we are getting ready to embark on starting in August of this year and completing our album.
