Photo Recap: Meghan Trainor, Ellie Goulding, Randy Jackson, Sean Kingston and Seth Green perform at the World’s Big Sleep Out

Last night, the world united to help raise awareness to the important fight against homelessness with what was the largest charitable fundraising campaign in an entire generation! The Worlds’ Big Sleep Out took place in 50 locations around the world, with the Los Angeles event hosted at the famous Rose Bowl, with live performances, musical acts and bedtime stories from notable talents that electrified the attendees with the most amazing performances from Meghan Trainor, Ellie Goulding, Ziggy Marley, Sean Kingston, Don Friesen and Randy Jackson’s All-Star Band, as well as a bedtime story read by Seth Green.

Opening the event and getting the crowd pumped for the night was Sean Kingston, who sang his hit songs such as “Me Love” and “Beautiful Girls” followed by, Meghan Trainor performing “All About That Bass” and “Like I’m gonna Lose You”.  Randy Jackson’s son and DJ Jordan Jackson, geared up the crowd up for an exciting night ahead. Renowned comedian Don Friesen took the stage getting everyone laughing.

Between acts, Cami (Jenni Alpert) and her biological father Don, who was living on the streets when she was growing up, until she recovered him, took to the stage and gave a moving performance, and gave the audience insight into what it’s really like to live on the streets and be separated from family.

Dancing With The Stars judge Julz Tocker and actress Kandee Johnson took to the stage to introduce singer Ziggy Marley. Closing the performances was Ellie Goulding who sang a bedtime lullaby, followed by Seth Green reading a bedtime story before the guests went to sleep under the stars for the night.

There are 80,000 homeless people in Los Angeles and despite the rain, the event drew thousands of Angelenos that enjoyed the spectacular performances, before 150 people braved the night, disconnecting with the usual ‘home comforts’ and being in the elements and slept out in solidarity for those without a home. That means each sleeper represented 533 homeless people!

QUOTES:

Ellie Goulding, said: “Combatting homelessness is a cause I have dedicated myself to, and something we all need to address on a global scale.  Thank you to the World’s Big Sleep Out for organizing this amazing event and for all those who came out to show their solidarity.  It was truly gratifying to come together with so many diverse entertainers to raise awareness for this important cause. The homeless not only need our help, but they need our compassion, understanding and love.”

Sean Kingston, said: “Homelessness is a very real and important issue for me to support. Every day we see people suffering on the streets of Los Angeles and I feel so much for these people, not a day goes by that I don’t feel blessed and thankful for what God has given me. It is an honor today to be a part of this concert in LA and to be uniting with thousands of people around the world to help make a difference.”

Seth Green, said: “I love this event and the opportunity to both raise money and awareness around the world. Homelessness is a growing epidemic without a single solution- this event sponsors several organizations addressing the issue from many sides. It’s incredible to see so many artists and concerned people come together. It truly demonstrates the power of community.”

Randy Jackson, said: “Homelessness is an important issue that affects the whole world, especially our city of Los Angeles – raising awareness and funds is a step in the right direction. I am so honored to have been a part of a cause that provides that for people who have less opportunity than others.”
