Hip Hop Artist Julian Xtra Stays Spiritual With His New Single “Past Lives”

Julian Xtra is known for being ahead of the game with consistent, forward-thinking music. Not one to sugar coat reality, Julian’s tendency toward existentialism has found him thousands of dedicated fans worldwide. As existential as he can get, Julian isn’t shy about challenging the norm when it comes to health and wellness. His passion for veganism, yoga and meditation have built a spiritual fan base who can’t wait to hear his latest single “Past Lives”.

“Past Lives” is a hard-hitting track about generational trauma that is passed from person to person. Julian considers himself a healer and has made it his intention to incorporate healing messages in his lyrics, taking a leadership stance in a genre that doesn’t often talk about healing so openly and with such fluidity. The theory that trauma can be passed down between generations is one that is talked about more frequently now then ever before. This field of research is relatively young but has expanded in recent years.

“Gotta heal up all my ancestors, transgressors, we’ve been through all the bad weather. Healing pain with entertainment like a damn jester.”

Julian understands entertainment as being a form of escape but also a way to heal. If trauma can be passed down through generations, how does mindfulness and positivity fair in the process? Produced entirely by Julian, “Past Lives” is buoyant and upbeat, which proves very fitting for the message. An angst-filled dynamic chorus pairs seamlessly with his intricate lyricism in the chorus. Julian provided a LIVE performance of “Past Lives” at NYC’s Manhattan Center this year with Paste Magazine LIVE; you can watch it here.

Julian Xtra has opened for A-List acts like Post Malone, Migos, Lil Yachty, Young Thug and many more. He has ranked #1 on VEVO’s DSCVR Hip Hop playlist and has received praise from high tier press like ABC, Huffington Post and Paste Magazine.
