0Winnetka Bowling League’s Matthew Koma On The New “Kangaroo” Single & More
Led by songwriter/producer Matthew Koma, Winnetka Bowling League is a Los Angeles-based band signed to RCA Records. Winnetka Bowling League’s debut EP Cloudy With A Chance Of Sun is already out, whereas the latest single by the group — which also includes keyboardist Sam Beresford, bassist and vocalist Sage Nicole and drummer Kris Mazzarissi — “Kangaroo” came out earlier this month. “Kangaroo” followed on the heels of the “CVS” single, which had a music video featuring cameos by Koma’s wife Hilary Duff and friend Christopher Mintz-Plasse (a.k.a. McLovin from Superbad).
If the “Matthew Koma” name sounds especially familiar, it’s because the guy has been collaborating with top-tier artists for many years. His credits as a songwriter, producer and contributing musician include Bruce Springsteen, Shania Twain, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Zedd, Kelly Clarkson, Alesso, Tiësto, Carly Rae Jepsen and the Far East Movement. All the while he has had a healthy solo career going since first signing with Interscope Records — Jimmy Iovine had pushed for his signing — in the early 2010s.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Matthew Koma by phone on April 27, 2020, as embedded below for your listening pleasure. More on Koma can be found online at www.matthewkoma.com, while Winnetka Bowling League keeps an official Internet home at www.wbleague.com.
