New Jersey Native Lil Raheezy Discusses Relocating to ATL for Music, Shawty Lo, and His New Single

Upcoming Rapper & Audio Engineer Lil Raheezy better known as Raheem Davis, better known as was born (January 16, 1992). After his father got incarcerated to life, Raheezy & his mother moved to Georgia until he reached the age of eight. Then they relocated to Tallahassee Fl.

The Trenton, NJ native always wanted to be an actor or play sports he never really thought about being a rapper. Growing up in the projects and seeing other teenagers coming up with rhymes and freestyling in the early 2000’s really inspired him to want to be involved with the industry of music.

In 2013, He discovered that him & the late legendary Atl rapper Shawty Lo are cousins thru an elderly cousin named Peeroll, who is now deceased. After finding out this information this really inspired him to move to Atlanta. Now at the age of 28, he is currently living in Atlanta writing, mixing, & mastering his own music.

Lil Raheezy has appeared on Worldstar Hip Hop also gaining prominent co-signs from artist such as female rapper Trina who has showed him love and shared his music over a couple of her social media platforms as well, giving him even more exposure.

In 2014, LA rapper, The Game followed him on twitter after hearing his popular song “Jockin’ Em” and quoted his lyrics from a song on instagram. Raheezy also caught the Compton artist’s attention with his latest hit single “Witcho Thick A**”.  At the age of 28 with so much accomplished, Lil Raheezy appears to be on his way, looks like the music industry has to make room for him.

Where you from and tell me when you first fell in love with hip-hop?

I’m from Trenton, New Jersey. I first fell in love with Hip Hop at the age of 12 in Tallahassee Florida.

Who are your musical inspirations?

My musical inspirations are Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, T-Pain, & My Cousin Shawty Lo.

When did you first get exposed to engineering?

I got exposed to engineering at the age of 13 in middle school. I started recording at one of my friend’s house & he taught me how to engineer?

There’s a saying that it takes 10,000 hours to master your craft, how does that time look?

The time looks more like 16 years to me lol but I’m still not satisfied because there’s still more work that need to be done.

What motivates you to create?

What motivates me to create is my struggles, & my life period. I love to use my notebook as a journal & just speak my life in my music to my fans.

Did you ever meet Shawty Lo?

Yes, I met him in 2013 at a Japanese restaurant, we took pics & exchange numbers & been chilling every since before he passed away. He even let me live with him in 2013 when I moved to Atlanta & I was homeless.

How is Atlanta culture perceived in mainstream music?

Atlanta culture is perceived in mainstream music because of rappers such as Outcast, T.I., Ludacris, Lil Baby, Miss Mulatto, Jermaine Dupri, and myself. It’s also in  the fashion, lingo, etc. I honestly feel like Atlanta is pretty much running the music industry right now.

Is it opportunity for an indie artist in the market?

Yes, it is opportunity because these days you don’t have to be signed to a major label to make major money. You can be independent and still eat like a mainstream artist if you grind hard enough.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on promoting my latest single & music video to my song “Witcho Thick A**”. I’m also about to release an EP during the fall.

What’s next for you in 2020-2021?

What’s next for me in 2020-2021 is my latest ep called “Evolving” which will be released in the fall. Also four new music videos from my upcoming EP as well.
